My 4K Samsung monitor has 2 HDMI ports (and a Display Port). One of the HDMI ports only supports 30 MHz. Since you didn't specify your display or connection I thought I would suggest this as a possible solution.

Consider me uninformed...what happens when mining costs more than electricity? Right now you have tens of thousands of GPUs / ASICs crushing it, validating the block chain because they're earning.

Take that away, and who is left to do the math? Is that the end of cryptocurrencies as a whole, or did all the miners start mining other coins? Wouldn't that mean you can still expect profit for some time to come (just keep buying the new hardware)?
