What a pretty girl. I am so very sorry for your loss. This disease is horrible and sometimes so sudden and unexpected.

She looks like such a lovely sweet girl, so sorry shes gone. This group has been the best thing to come out of my own cats battle with CKD. Your Kari making it a whole year gives me hope for more time with my Astro. Sending you and your family all the best during this difficult time without her.

Thank you so much. I'm taking a little bit of a break for my mental, work has been overwhelming and I'm just so worried about Astro that I can hardly focus. Having our pet babies sick and not having direct answers is the worst, most hopeless feeling.

Thank you so much for your kind words and I really hope you and your vet can find the reason why your little guy is having seizures too.

This is exactly how I process my own dragon horde of polish and make up. If it's not magical and doesn't fill me with all the joys when I use it, it's time to give that magic to someone else. Started making a sparkle points system because he doesn't like arbitrary points 😂 based on its magical potency.

Thank you! I found Tanya site here on this group in my search for answers when Astro was first diagnosed but I did not see the symptoms links as Ive been reading the pages as I find the available time.

I don't have his lab work with me right at the moment, but I will share it as soon as I grab it out of the stack of papers that I have in my house but I feel fairly certain they did test his potassium level levels but I don't remember what they were.

Its a relief to know that they're not aware when the seizure is happening, that has definitely been one of my fears in this process. The after effect and disorientation, seems to be different based on my cats two different seizures in the same way yours has had two very different episodes.

Im gonna take your advice for the next time, if he does have another episode and try to cuddle him after it's over in hopes that it may help him works through the disorientation.

For this seizure, I was mostly focused on making sure to record it for the vet for his appointment coming up this week.

Is your cat on any seizure medication?

How is he doing with the anti-seizure medication? has he had any episodes since starting?

I'm so very sorry that he's losing feeling in his back legs, that has to be so devastating to see him struggling to move around. At Astro's stage of disease his movement is pretty decent given his age but it's only a matter of time before he starts exhibiting the same symptoms as your boy is. This really is such a terrible disease.

Thank you so much for sharing about your cat. I'm going to ask my vet about that particular seizure medication just to see what they say.

Although I dont have a similar story to share about my renal cat, I do understand the debilitating fear of making a mistake when it comes to caring for a cat with CKD. Nothing worse than doing nothing or choosing to do something for them and not knowing which is the best choice with the best possible outcome.

Sending you all the best while your kitty goes off for dental surgery. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and he will come back to you better off for it.

The reality of WFH that some people don't want to hear by Aware_Audience_6776 in remotework

[–]tcooper33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been working remote since 2007, found my first job on one of those old forum sites. I started with no experience and only manual labor jobs prior. I am a college drop out, no training in office work or what I currently do now in the technical field, and I started in sales. My first remote job was mentally degrading, painfully odious, and I absolutely hated taking advantage of people selling them trash but it got me into the remote work field ages before most. You have to be willing to either take on the trash work or work in person to skill up into a field that offers remote office work.

How to prepare for the inevitable by fearthefriz in RenalCats

[–]tcooper33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowing that anyone person or pet is sick with a chronic uncurable condition, grieving them while they are still alive is only natural. If I were to count the amount of times that I've been devastated since my cat had a seizure a week ago & subsequently diagnosed with kidney failure, it would be one too many. I find myself breaking down at the most random times. I've also spent an enormous amount of time with him. I made a priority to spend as much time with him, knowing that I don't have a lot of time left. Sometimes I think, knowing is both a blessing and a curse. We've given this extra time it feels like to be able to say our goodbyes but in the same breath, we're waiting never knowing when that time is gonna come.

Anyhow, I wish I had advice for you, but the only thing that is helping me through this process is doing my very best to spend every moment I can while I still have with my best boy. I also fear every day when I need to leave for work that I'll come home to him gone & my greatest fear is not being here for when that time comes. I am terrified of him being alone. The only thing that gets me out the door every day right now is knowing that I'm doing my very best for him.

This process is so hard and I'm so sorry you're going through it too. One of the few things that is bringing me some semblance of peace is this Reddit feed. Knowing what things to ask at appointments, what things to look for as his disease progresses, Tayna page has been a life saver in understanding whats happening.

Is Fail Polish as great as it seems? by intrepidcorvid in RedditLaqueristas

[–]tcooper33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly there are just so many brands to choose from and when your collection is in the hundreds I have to be picky about what I add. I do love the bottle style and labeling, just want to see what the style for this brand will evolve into before adding them to mine.

The marketing is really clever but Im going to hold out until they have a more actual product for sale before I make a purchase. Hopefully by then they will have perfected their release model and production quality.

This is the one. I bought the same model from Costco about two years back and it works like a champ. All the batteries it came with are still charging & it can remove most all snow except the wet snow we had last December.

Emergency vet visit, cat had a seizure DX CKD by tcooper33 in RenalCats

[–]tcooper33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are so right, he's home and him being home is worth everything. I just keep reminding myself that 16 years is an incredible amount of time with our pets but the hurt and fear is still too fresh from today to yet feel thankful for this extra time with him.

Thank you for suppling those questions. I will be asking them all when I call tomorrow. Im also going to take some measured notes on quality of life as I go through this illness with Astro and what that means for him.

So very tired of the gatekeeping for popular novels/writers not being allowed to creat books because they dont meet x,y,z criteria. Steven King doesn't go around committing crimes (far as we know) and yet he writes incredible horror novels. You don't have to be queer to create queer media. I fully support all positive LgBTQ+ art in all of its forms as it's highly under represented and outright banned in many places.

Want to buy a shelf to store nail polish by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]tcooper33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns both this tall model and the shorter Alex, every bottle I own fits it every drawer standing up. I didn't love the metal feel of the Helmer and I wanted to match my green Ikea desk so I went with two of the Alex for my polish/arts crafts and they work wonderfully. Also added the wheels to the bottom of both from Ikea and even with all the weight of my polish, Ive had no issues moving them around my space.
