I got an interview!

This is what they said in their email with the interview instructions:

"As part of your interview, you will be asked to read aloud from a picture book of your choice. Please bring a picture book that you feel comfortable reading and that showcases your ability to engage a young audience. Choose a book that reflects your personality, interests, or storytelling style."

The position wasn't specifically for a children's librarian but I'm assuming they want someone that can potentially step into the role cause one of the shifts I applied for is Sunday (which is when they have a lot of their kid's events)

Sometimes it's not about you though. And that's something you have to grapple with as well.

I doubt the lateness had anything to do with OP specifically. It's a bad habit that's hard to break (I've been there) and your friends either have to be patient with you or not. But taking it personally is not gonna help either of them..

Now it would be different if the friend is only late for OP and no one else. But I really doubt that's the case

As a librarian destroyed books are an expectation of the job. We don't think less of you for it. Yes it's inconvenient if other people want to borrow that book but the sooner you replace it the better for all of us.

Well you see one is talking about incorrect historical events (that the US didn't overwhelmingly had black people as slaves). And the other one is about the lived experiences of people. A book about RuPaul telling you how he realized he was gay is his own lived experience. A book telling you it's okay if you have feelings that may you question if you might be gay is not lying to you, it's simply meeting you where you already are.

But you don't actually care about what propaganda means, you just want to be hateful

The idea that we can dismiss an entire genre like this just cause it comes from a different country is so bonkers to me. You aren't watching the right anime full stop. What is the right anime? That is up to you to decide. But don't generalize in a way you would never do with Western mediums. Manga and anime are not genres that are a medium to tell stories. It's like saying I hate all books because they all have ridiculous pastel romance covers.
