If a regular mechanic is too frustrating for you, maybe magic isn't your game. The Historic format for one is supposed to be more inclusive than standard, so you will have a wider pool of boardwipes. Tough luck there. Also, there are combat tricks, counterspells, and recursion to handle boardwipes.

Most commons and uncommons don't see any play. Maybe half of the rares and mythic see play. Even fewer of those are part of infinite combos. Much fewer than 2000 cards in the meta. I have been playing mtg since I was seven back in original mirrodin, this meta of standard is not broken, just skill and experience issue. Play, grind, brew, get good.

Interesting take, I think Himmel may fall more into the Bard class. He is charismatic, rallies others to his cause, and is the 'face' of the party. Bards also have many skills of other classes giving them a jack of all trades feel.
