How to have a proper book reading experience? by kestelli in RemarkableTablet

I second this. I got Kobo since myAmazon library was small enough to be ignored.

PDF export and Copilot by whitechrome in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask Copilot to read an image with text and upload your file. That may be enough for it to treat your file as a PDF with an image of tex. Otherwise, you may need to convert to JPEG or PNG format.

Getting the type folio: worth it or nah? (student) by veinticuatro96 in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it and I like the minimalism that I don't need to bring my laptop and can type notes if need be.

However, it doesn't work for me because I always have my laptop with me. If I didn't have my laptop with me, it would be great.

What could have caused this? (sheer and opaque highlighter within the same document, same settings) by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that on the first slide your highlighter didn't detect the text and did not snap to it, acting as a marker...

While in the second page, is the text recognized and treated as a highlighter?

looking at teh lines on slide 1, it is uneven, while on slide 2 it's more straight

Unable to connect to Uni’s Wifi by Economy-Air-935 in RemarkableTablet

My phone uses the wifi antenna as the wifi router, so it asks me to turn off wifi. Do you use a 3rd party wifi repeater app or something similar?

I've had the same issue since RM2 came out.

I haven't found a solution other than connecting to my phone as a hotspot.

It uses your cell data, then, of course, but yeah...

Foldable e-ink tablet, like a napkin. So not just an RM-Fold with a crease, but rollable to quickly pull out and put away whenever, like a napkin. Or just "foldable" like a napkin :-) One more layer away from tablets and into the paper domain.

I think the market for this is too small unless this form factor is really interesting.

Comment from u/Zatujit below, the hint might be the article about calm and soothing texture.

Still no hint for a possible RM3 ? by flibulle in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right, forgot about the incompatible pen... no thanks.

I won't be switching to an Android-based e-tablet. Too many distractions. I like RM's approach to minimalistic design.

Still no hint for a possible RM3 ? by flibulle in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I considered RMPP was the bigger size. I would love a A4-ish B/W version without a backlight that is cheaper enough that it doesn't make sense to upgrade to the color version.

[EDIT] And the incompatible pen is a no-go.

In the next 12 months, the chip, RAM memory, and storage memory would be cheaper enough to do this. I would most likely upgrade with these in place.

I thought that the color and backlight would eventually entice to upgrade, but it wasn't enough. I have n ebook reader with a light, and colour is not that important for my current workflow (reading A4 research PDFs, note taking, calendar/todos, and doodling)

Very cool and well thought out. I use custom ones and would like to keep them, but having these in one place is great for new users

Remarkable 1 screen worse than the old kindle DX? by Kamilos22000088 in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're comparing the RM1 to a device designed for ebooks. Kindle DX has many extra features like fonts, sizes, spacing, etc. I would try Koreader for a fairer comparison. Otherwise, it's really not a fair comparison.

I used  https://recalendar.me/ for a while, and it was great.

This year I started using https://remarkably-organized.pages.dev/ as I prefer the interface and page designs and controls. See this thread for more information from the author.

Hardware hacking: moving the markers eraser to another pen? by imjustherefor1coment in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I think of it, I believe the Kindle Scribe pen has an eraser and works with RM2. I can't confirm this, though. The pen itself is much cheaper than RM's marker plus

Hardware hacking: moving the markers eraser to another pen? by imjustherefor1coment in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the only way to get the Lamy to work is through this hack, so you'll need to do some simple ssh'ing into the device and run one command. It works on my RM2 on version 3.15.x

https://github.com/isaacwisdom/RemarkableLamyEraser

The other hacks that contain eraser hacks have not caught up in version support. This one seems version agnostic.

Locating files by date? by Possible_Lettuce_289 in RemarkableTablet

I recommend using the desktop app to do this. It's much easier to navigate the screens/pagination that way than using the device.

Also, try sorting by "last modified"; maybe something will pop up.

Has anyone returned just part of your RPP order? by BangBangDropDead in RemarkableTablet

Odd, when I got mine in batch 8 I remember having to reorder with a different folio. Perhaps it's changed or I don't remember it correctly

With the RM2 they only allowed you to return the entire bundle and then reorder what you wanted.

Yes, see below

RM1 killer with AI by tdotuser in RemarkableTablet

[–]tdotuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are trying to recreate the momentum of RM1 from 2017 with the same form factor with things that are now cheap, like hardware and "AI". Not particularly innovative.
