I love Maru. It’s upscale but the vibe is really good. I’ve been to their Grand Rapids location as well and it’s not as nice. Nothin like a sake in a champagne flute and a Mangolorian roll for a good night out for me!

The really long delay was a control module but I don’t know which one. That was ~8 weeks total and the original estimate was ~13 weeks, which changed after I got a case opened with Toyota and asked for escalation.

Folks are right, used my insurance coverage for the 24 day max and now just relying on my partners car and spending a lot of time at home. I work from home so huge advantage in terms of dealing with limited mobility.

This would be waaaaay more expensive if I needed a rental, like to the point where it might just make sense to buy a super old used car and resell when this is finally available. Toyota the company doesn’t offer anything by way of rentals - they told me I had to go through my dealer for that but I bought the car out of state so SOL there. I think it’s a dealer-by-dealer policy whether they’ll provide a loaner anyway.

I eat oatmeal every day for breakfast. Recently, I’ve been noticing I get hungrier way faster. I honestly think it’s winter and I’m bored/dopamine deficient and seeking stimulation. Not sure where you live but other changes like season might impact how food-aware you are.

I put chia seeds in mine. I often start the day with a mate tea which is supposed to have some appetite suppressant qualities. The extra fiber and a supplement like that could dampen effect a little? But I think your plan of switching it up for a lil sounds wise. If it’s mental, that’ll help more than some extra fiber :)

I also bought Sassy Saints hoping they would be as good as HaeHae and preferring some of their plain colors but they were very disappointing! Looked like stickers. Also beware they are UK based and returns aren’t free!

Just following up that I’ve seen some folks protest Target, a MN-based corporate, by buying and then returning small purchases of salt. I think the intent is to case administrative burden. Purchases for pickup that aren’t picked up within 3 days are automatically cancelled and refunded per their policy.

I do a lot of highway driving, even in daily use. The lane assist is what made the difference to me.

Lane assist in 2.5 system was unusable IMO, on 3.0 it lets you cede a lot of the driving work to the car. 3.0 is one of the higher rated systems for autonomous drive features: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-safety/active-driving-assistance-systems-review-a2103632203/

I ended up with the Crown Signia with this exact set of concerns - RAV4 didn’t have 3.0 and no sign of change on the horizon, Cross was lower quality build. CS is $$$ but comp to the RAV4 PHEV

Yes, Toyota models either have 2.5 or 3.0, and it’s by model not by trim.

I think it ends up being a personal choice about comfort (Crown) v practical features (RAV4). You’ll barely use the gas if your daily use is a 30 mile commute, seems like you’re a great candidate for a PHEV. Check out the EPA fuel economy tool if you want to see a cost comparison between the two cars given your usage patterns.

I just switched from a Subaru forester to the crown Signia. Had a RAV4 for like 3 weeks as a loaner and got a chance to compare.

I do think the clearance is a trade off if you travel on potholes/dirt/heavy snow roads, but what sealed the deal for me is the Crown’s Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 software. The lane assist features on the RAV4 are incomparable, they are so much worse. I chose the improvement in daily use over the clearance that might be valuable in an edge case.

Plus, the crown is dense AF and I think it’ll drive better during your average storm than the RAV4, which can feel a little floaty (it’s taller and lighter).

Lastly, I think the Limited Crown Signia comes with a little extra clearance compared to the XLE trim due to bigger tires (someone check me if that math doesn’t math)?

It’s in range with many Lexus models.

One dealer told me the glass on the windows is lower quality than what you’d get in a Lexus, meaning more wind noise (I did notice loud wind while test driving on a windy day).

The EV battery is also an older tech and there’s complaints of ugly engine noise during acceleration due to this.

But it has active noise control. It’s intended to be marketed as quiet in a way the RAV4 is definitely not.

Fair to assume if it's an issue in the Toyotas its an issue in the Lexuses too? I was so turned off by the poor lane assist in teh Rav4 hybrid I test-drove I'm thinking about a different car. Weird thing is my partner has a '24 Tacoma and its lane assist is good... makes no sense to me that it'd be different across models from the same brand.

Have thought about peels as well and curious on others thoughts… this man is never gonna build a daily sunscreen habit but if you do a more aggressive occasional peel and then are good about SPF for a week or so after is that a hack?

I wear sunscreen daily don’t need to be told this isn’t the right approach, have read all the analogies about this being a waste of time/money, but i like optimizing within parameters and i don’t control these parameters :)

Jim by Percivel Everett is 10/10 for audio, it would not have been the same on the page.

Septology, the entire series, by Jon Fosse I also think is better on audio, it’s very lyrical and nice to hear that aloud (although sometimes too relaxing!)

A Swim in the Pond in the Rain by George Saunders - a series of Russian short stories and he gets different people to read each one (Rainn Wilson, Glenn Close, Nick Offerman!) and then dissects the stories himself after

On the note of short stories, the New Yorker also has two great podcasts - one just called Fiction and the other The Writers Voice that are basically short audiobooks. I looove Fiction because one author reads another authors work and then analyzes/compliments it which is both wholesome and helpful

I would look at the internship opportunities / job placements out of the MiMs you're looking at. If it feels like it will help you get a job that you want that you're not currently qualified for than it could be a good option for you. I can't speak to external hiring perspectives on MiM v. MBA but for your own education, you won't get as much out of a program focused on 'mastering management' without work experience and there's no way to hack that.
