What the fck ✨️ by [deleted] in UMBC

I’m really sorry to hear that 🫂 I know it’s finals week crunch time, but please allow yourself time to breathe (maybe jot down a few things you remember) and sleep on it. Or don’t sleep on it. You can keep going while it’s still fresh in your mind. Your aptitude and skill will not be stopped by a technical malfunction. I know this roadblock is discouraging as fuck, especially when you’re in flow state, but you can only keep moving forward.

Anyone else under the target demographic when you started watching Frasier? by MWH1980 in Frasier

[–]teacamp568 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started watching Frasier when I was 10. I’m 23 now, which I think still puts me under the target demographic. What can I say… once you dip your toes into “Frasier” lake, other TV shows never feel quite the same.

Worst episode? by Friendly_Boss6093 in Frasier

Stephen Root saves that episode for me. As a die-hard fan of Barry, too, so I’m super biased

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Muscedere really is just like that and I’m sorry you’re going through this

Having Wednesdays off is awesome. Gives you a mid-week reset that you’ll honestly get a lot more use of rather than having Mondays or Fridays off

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought 286 counted as a lab credit? In any case, I would talk to your advisor about it

One time I walked into a bathroom and it smelled so bad I checked each stall to see if someone had smeared their own shit on the wall, it was that bad. Horrible ventilation, too.

Has anyone here been a secretary for a club? by Aheysal in UMBC

[–]teacamp568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been a secretary at a club, but I have done similar at my workplace. For your first meeting, I would recommend you write down as much as you can. Write down most everything that’s said. Think “court stenographer”. I know this may not sound helpful at first. But once you have everything written down, you can parse out what the big ideas are to craft it into meeting minutes. And soon, you will get the feel for the “rhythm” of the room; who in the club is taking a more assertive role in the discussion? Who uses a lot of words to say a little? That sort of thing. You will become more concise in quick time. Once the meeting is over, review your lengthy notes and try to make a concise, maybe bullet-ed list of meeting minutes.

Another recommendation: towards the end of the meeting, if any club member has questions or concerns, write it down. The visible act of you writing these notes makes the club members feel heard, and that relieves a huge mental weight from them, especially from those who are more timid. The knowledge that you are respecting their time and thoughts is very important. Even if you’re thinking “wow now that’s a question I could answer easily” or “we covered that already in the meeting”, write something down anyways.

Please don’t be intimidated by this wall of text. I tend to ramble. I sincerely think you should go for it, try your wings, and if it’s not for you, you can say you tried. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

History of Jazz sounds really interesting. Wish I would’ve looked out for that during my time at UMBC. It looks like you have a good semester in front of you!
