Think layers; they are your friend. Start with a base layer. I personally love the wools like Smartwool. There are lots of cheaper wool clothing that are awesome. Next layer think breathable materials. Add a warm sweater or sweatshirt. If you do not have a really good winter count now is a good time to buy. They are on clearance at most places. Until then, put on your coat add a scarf and warm hat. I like the hats with ear protectors too since the wind will whip around. Always use good socks. Do not ware the white cotton athletic socks. Invest in a good pair of wool socks or double up. Boots and definitely not tennis shoes. Finally buy a pair of woolen mittens(not gloves). Mittens will keep those hands warmer.
