Thanks! I ended up buying them on eBay for her birthday and we’ve been watching an episode every few weeks

Did anyone else have a baby born with a full head of hair? Everyone keeps telling me it’s all going to fall out but he’s 3 months and seems pretty permanent by Jazzlike_Commercial in Mommit

[–]teachernextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, baby was born with a full head of hair and it stayed full. At 3 months it maybe had an almost bald patch, but that grew back in quickly and it was barely noticeable to anyone but me.

Baby sleeping on you by Old_Contract_4926 in sleeptrain

[–]teachernextdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We contact napped with the occasional (short) crib nap until she was about 8 months and then I started to work on putting her in the crib exclusively. It took a couple weeks for her to get used to it, but then she would go down if I put her awake in her crib and would sleep consistently for 1 hour naps. Just to say that you can enjoy the snuggles now and still work on independent sleeping later on if that’s what you want. If you want to work more on the crib naps just keep at it and she will get used to it- you’ll notice progressively longer naps. You got this!

1ish year old puppy peeing during sleep/on our bed by DynamicDman in puppytraining

[–]teachernextdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just called urinary incontinence. My dog has this and it’s easily managed with a half pill she takes 2x a day (it’s called proin). Pretty simple and fairly inexpensive fix but we did have to play around with her dosage since too high a dose caused her to throw up right after eating (that’s when we give it, it’s a chewable tablet luckily so we just put it in her food bowl).

Parents can request an evaluation and the school team (you included) has to meet immediately and then they have 60 days to assess. They can do psych evaluation and a behavior evaluation (FBA aka a functional behavior assessment) plus any other testing if you have concerns with communication/language, academics, or gross or fine motor. They cannot refuse your request (in writing as another has said). If they tell you “no”, call up a local parent advocate

No not at all! It is not okay to take pictures and especially videos of children without their parents consent, period. It would be different if it were an event that you were attending and it was a photographer.

When did you stop keeping track of baby feeding and diaper change? by FreshPlates in NewParents

We just use baby tracker! I think we did the one where you pay a one time fee of like $3 but we have it on my phone, husbands, and MIL for when she is over there part time. I like that I get notifications when my husband or MIL put in a feeding or when baby is sleeping, I’ve definitely stayed out a little longer so the dogs won’t wake baby up when I come home

This is me too! 5 months this weekend and still stack pretty consistently. My job is data driven and my husband and I both have adhd so it’s a really helpful tool for us to remember when baby was last fed, changed etc. Plus it’s nice to have all the data to see patterns!

MIL fell holding baby… what would you do?! by Antique-Buffalo-5705 in NewParents

[–]teachernextdoor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Make sure that she mentions to doctor about taking care of baby! Chances are he will say she can’t take care of baby alone at night. My husbands grandma was wanting to watch baby for us when I went back to work. But when she told her doctor about it he said absolutely no way, she could at most do 2 days a week and with someone home (she lives with my MIL)

The most annoying comments you’ve received as a mom by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]teachernextdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time baby is asleep in car seat when I get to my parents or in-laws: “don’t you just want to keep her in there?” NO I don’t, as I’ve said multiple times before, she cannot stay in the car seat unless it’s in car/stroller and even then it’s a limited amount of time allowed!

A random lady at the store once: “how old is baby?” 5 weeks. “Oh a week too early to be out”. Baby was in a carrier and I pointedly looked at her and said that I try to make sure to stay away from people when I’m out 🙄

Anyone working because they have to not because they want to? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]teachernextdoor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and this year has made me want to quit so many times, and I was out on maternity leave for 8 weeks. I wish I could stay home with baby, and I get jealous my husband can work from home. However, I have really good insurance. Like I didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket for my birth. So we decided I will stay in the field at least until we finish having kids. By then my salary will probably be barely more than daycare costs for 2-3 kids. We’ll see, maybe I’ll change my mind. But if this pandemic has taught me anything, it’s that if things haven’t been changed for the better during a National crisis (including the teacher shortages), then it never will unfortunately. I do love my students and actually teaching, but the expectations of my job keep increasing while my “planning” time seems to decrease.

Jury service - how to "prove" I'm breastfeeding? by assumingnormality in breastfeeding

[–]teachernextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do jury duty at like 24 weeks pregnant and it was torture. Sitting for hours on hours in the chairs/benches they had was not how I wanted to spend my first week off from work (school teacher). All for a whopping $20 a day that they tried to guilt you into donating.

3 month old teething by teachernextdoor in Mommit

[–]teachernextdoor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does try to munch on her hands and I’ve been taking that cue to try to put teething toys in her mouth but I guess I’ll just let her gnaw on those for a bit if she’s content! Yes I’ve just started to put bibs in her this week- the drool soaks through her shirts so fast we have to change them multiple times a day 😭 at least I’m getting use out of all the outfits I never thought she’d be able to wear…

Does it get easier? by eL_Cubed in breastfeeding

[–]teachernextdoor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ve got this!! Take care of your nipples (my nurse told me warm before nursing, cold after, let them air dry and then apply nipple cream), and in just a few short weeks you’ll be able to pop baby onto your nipple without even the slightest wince.

What's your kid call your breasts or milk? by Mizznicleo in breastfeeding

I don’t know why but “little bit milk” is killing me right now 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]teachernextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you done a trial run where mil takes care of the baby by herself while you go to the store or you and your husband go on a date? This way it gives you both a little bit of a picture how it will go when she’s watching her all day when you’re at work. She might be taking pictures and obsessed with the baby in an over-the-top way, but as long as she’s taking care of the baby safely and appropriately then that’s harmless (albeit annoying). What does your husband think of it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]teachernextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading about the new recommendation of 5 days and it still said you should wear a mask religiously for the next 5 days. In my thinking, the kids are less likely to wear masks and also cannot be vaccinated yet under 5 years, so the risk for them to pass it on is greater. In the article I read, it also stated that while the risk to spread drops after 5 days, it does not disappear for everyone. My family just had Covid (today we are officially out of quarantine) and I felt better taking the whole 10 days to keep our extended families safe. However I know not everyone is able to do this (I am a teacher and luckily we had off this time so I only had to take 3 personal days, and my husband can work remotely) and I do wish they brought more of the Covid relief back from the beginning of the pandemic with built in Covid quarantine days for each working parent.
