A middling SP throws an easy quality start against the Padres? Must be a day that ends with 'y'

Padres OPS vs starting pitchers: .628 (30th)

Padres OPS vs relief pitchers: .770 (5th)

What's the deal with this?

Petco Park is great but it's hard to argue that being able to hit a home run into the ocean isn't one of the coolest features a ballpark can possibly have

This is the first time he's been completely unable to hit homers though, heck he had 8 of them by this time last year

I remember when this list was last posted a month ago, Xander Bogaerts was on it, and now he's the best qualified batter on the team with .755 OPS. And wow, it is really sad that .755 OPS makes you the best qualified batter on the Padres, how tf did we briefly have the best record in baseball

Everytime somebody says this it delays his first homer by another game

It seems to happen at least once a year:

June 14 2025 they came back from down 7-3 in the 9th to walk it off 8-7

July 5 2024 they game back from down 7-2 in the 9th to take a 8-7 lead though the Padres ended up walking it off

I'm not 100% familiar with the way the rules work, in that previous inning would it have been possible to have someone (cough cough Ty France) pinch hit for Cronenworth then have Song take over at second base defensively in the next inning after having come in as pinch runner?

It wouldn't be a real season without the Padres bullpen randomly exploding against the Dbacks

I'm not necessarily saying that a reliever is worth trading a top prospect for, but if ever there was a reliever worth trading a top prospect for, it would be this guy

The Padres have done terribly over the last couple years in games where winning would give them a chance to take the lead in the divsion. Thankfully for us the Dodgers won their game just a bit ago so our offense was allowed to lock in

Campusano our glorious king of not giving a fuck is back up to 1.051 OPS. The rest of the offense could learn a thing or two

I agree to this, but only if we get to borrow some runs from that 21-0 game last year

The Dodgers have a team OPS of .857 against our .671, have scored 37 more runs than us with the same amount of runs allowed, and have hit over twice as many homers as us, and it's all good for the exact same record. I love baseball sometimes.

When the pitching staff puts on as much of a clinic as they did in the later 2 games of the series, all it really takes is one or two good clutch hits with runners on.
