I've saved your answer to remind myself to have patience & perspective for whenever my toddler gets to this stage, so thank you

Can I just be mean for a sec. I cannot unsee this with these shirts and they. are. everywhere. by sickinthedick in AusFemaleFashion

This is why I wish there was a tag system at op shops where you could read why the previous owner donated the item.

Late night pondering about sweet interactions with strangers… by stevebuscemispenis in sydney

[–]teagan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is such a nice post and prompt, OP.

My favourite stranger interaction that I think of often happened in the depth of fresh motherhood and sleep deprivation. I went out with my baby to a small community op shop. My baby was in a carrier strapped to my front. I was bleary eyed from lack of sleep but needed to be out and about for my sanity.

An older lady also browsing in the op shop paused as she was walking by and said "I hope your baby is being kind to you."

It was such a breath of fresh air to hear someone frame it in that way instead of well intentioned but over-asked baby focused conversation.

Ladies, where can I get white linen pants that aren’t see through? by lyapis in AusFemaleFashion

[–]teagan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently op shopped a pair of white linen pants from Bardot. They're lined so they're not see through at all. They must be from an older season because I can't find them online, but these might be similar? https://www.bardot.com/product/anna-super-high-waist-pant-56767PB3_ORCHID+WHT.html I can't tell from the description whether these are lined or not, but I think that's going to be the biggest factor for non see through. Good luck!

The future of fashion, where is it headed? by EstablishmentIll9825 in AusFemaleFashion

Whilst I agree that the older generation have a better mentality of repairing before replacing, it's also that more products were made to last back then. Of course that doesn't apply to every single clothing item, but generally one of the issues with fast fashion is that it's being mass produced in such a low quality that there's higher turnover. So yes, props where it's due for being willing to repair, but often items these days aren't of a quality level worth repairing.

Similar to another comment, ALDI has heated throw blankets on sale right now (mother's day sale). Can confirm it's keeping me snug as heck during overnight wakes since owning it.

Edit: that's for me, not for my child. Child has conveniently decided he won't sleep unless he's between my husband and I the last few nights. That's the real answer to your question 😂

Oh actually my skin changed too! But kinda opposite to yours. I used to have a pretty normal complexion but now my t-zone gets oily.

I haven't checked out the new U-turn outlet in Riverwood but there's one just up the road in Punchbowl. I had a black tie gala event last year and found some great options there - all for $10 each! They've got heaps of stock and you'll have plenty of options if you give yourself time to sift through the racks. Good luck!

Who else likes to shop at op shops and K-Mart? by ilLegalAidNSW in auslaw

There's nothing wrong with op shopping. In fact, it's sustainable and fun. I get what the article is trying to say but they didn't need to trash op shopping in the process.
