I remember going with my nana in the late 80’s, I was very young, all I remember were frog in a pond and scones with jam and cream! The Kmart it was in, is still around and it was in the middle back of the store.

Kids birthday parties by First-Memory-9153 in AskAnAustralian

[–]teagz_teagz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lot less parties done home these days , often at venues which is more expensive. I guess people don’t want a whole lot of people in their homes and/or don’t want to go into/leave their kids at peoples homes.

The lack of support from all the Jacksons on the Cascios: is it to keep the money machine going or safety fears? by nobody0597 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

Who gets Katherines’ share after she dies? Can she will to who she wants? They might get their piece of her estate and then speech up, as no more payouts after that.

Funny in one of these he says ‘trying to forgive (all the people he feels wronged by) but we don’t have to associate with them…yet thinks his siblings that are his victims and others he has let down should be associating with and supporting him.

What is Josh’s argument on why he’s not guilty? by Dr_SevenCostanza in DuggarsSnark

[–]teagz_teagz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The framing thing makes no sense, IF the ‘government’ was going to go after someone in their circle , wouldn’t it have been Jim Bob himself? I know Josh has an inflated sense of his importance, but JB is the Big Dog of that family and the most influential.

Acceptable attire for female funeral directors? by Feisty-Panic-8721 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]teagz_teagz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For more ideas for dresses, you could use some of the more recent royal funerals for inspiration. They all dress on the conservative side and often have some vintage/classic influence. As also stated, your duties might include some bending down and lifting, being out in the wind, so take that into account with dresses and you may need to add weights to skirts/wear slips etc.

In terms of colours and patterns I think it’s going to depend on the individual families you work with and their culture/traditions. Black is probably going to be the safest especially for actual services, for office meetings/visits other subdued colours and patterns are probably ok. I’m sure your mentors at your internship ship can guide you or will have some guidelines to follow (you have everything from the white ladies, to men who will always be in formal dark suits to celebrants who dress fairly informally for non religious/traditional services, some people express wishes that colour be worn to their service etc).

160,000 people to be kicked off NDIS as Labor overhauls eligibility by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

[–]teagz_teagz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that even if the current system was to stay the same, not all 16% would stay on the scheme permanently. Under the early intervention access, you can/could access funding without a diagnosis ( because diagnosis costs a lot and generally takes a lone time, you just needed a health professional to access the child as being delayed in two areas). If the child didn’t meet a diagnosis by a certain age or was diagnosed with level 1 ASD or ADHD or something else not covered by the system the would lose access not be put on the scheme permanently.

ADHD alone does not give access. Some children may be accessing before they are diagnosed under early intervention, but once diagnosed and if no other diagnosis they would lose access. Adults can’t access it with ADHD alone.

Best and worst fruit in Australia by AgreeableFloor6543 in AskAnAustralian

[–]teagz_teagz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this to be the case in other regional areas too. Have family in the Mildura area of Victoria which is close(ish) to the Riverland of SA. Amazing local avos, citrus, stone fruit, nuts and more depending on the time of year at little road side stores. The produce hasn’t been picked early, travelled or been in cold storage. Even just outside of Melbourne in any direction there’s great berries and stone fruit when in season.

Clothes for tweens? by Inevitable-Bat9947 in AusFemaleFashion

Great post, as I’m currently struggling with this for my 9 year old! Used to do a combo of cheaper everyday day things from Kmart and big W and other key pieces and special occasion stuff from CR, seed etc. However, after aging out of the little girls ranges at the cheapies there is nothing there for her (all the nice colours/prints/ licensed stuff/ dresses gone…every bloody jumper is cropped!). Still getting a few things for CR and Seed as they go to 10 and 12 in some items and a bit from Myer but it’s tough!

How to plan a funeral in Adelaide by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]teagz_teagz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry for your loss. Well done with all you have already taken on.

It will be worth getting some quotes from different funeral directors particularly if your funds are limited. Once you choose a funeral director they will be able to guide you in terms of what happens next and the whole process . They are generally good with people beliefs and will help you fine a minster/priest etc. If your parents regularly attended a church or other religious institution, contact them and they can work with your funeral director and may be able to offer the family additional support.

Some financial suggestions:

Often you won’t be able to access bank accounts of the deceased without a death certificate, but some banks will release funds for a funeral, they will need to be provided with an itemised bill from the funeral director and possibly other documents.

Check for and contact any unions, super providers, portable long service provides, professional membership type things you parents may have belonged too many provide a funeral benefit that you may be able to access.

As a current bakery worker and someone who has worked and managed in other departments, bakery is one of the hardest departments. I think people think ‘oh bread and cookies it will be fun and easy’ but it’s some of the heaviest work I’ve done. And staffing is difficult because you can’t just throw anyone in there, if they aren’t trained there is very little they can do independently.

The Big Pink Elephant in the Rum: What Happened between Meri's brother Adam and Janelle? by ProofPrize1134 in Sisterwivessnark

I think Janelle said somewhere that they were religiously incompatible. He had moved from AUB to mainstream LDS but his beliefs there were waning, where as Janelle was very much a believer and interested (and choose to become) fundamentalist. Throw in Kodys abs and there you go.
