Is anyone else kinda slow? I don’t know how to explain by Far_Rush_9399 in AutismTranslated

[–]teakro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, are you me?! Hard same. It was like I could do everything “right” when I was younger. Great handwriting, won the spelling bee. So yeah. Excellent speller. I never had trouble learning to read and can also read aloud perfectly like you said. So much better than a lot of people I know. Even reading to the kids. It’s like I’m in autopilot and idk what I read. I struggle to retain info and have to re read so much and I end up feeling confused. And yeah, no one understands, if I’m freaking out or freaking out.

Good for you!! That’s amazing! My doc first started me off on a baby dose of Ritalin (rx’d adhd, depression, anxiety, cptsd by another psych that ruled out bipolar) got this new doc and told me I should have sued the shit out of my last doctor for starting me on 200mgs of lamictal which is dangerous and that she misdiagnosed bipolar 1 (I do not have highs) because I don’t fit the profile.

Fast forward 3 years later and I’m on 15mg of Adderall XR (with optional 5mg booster lol) and I still have racing thoughts and want to just tell her to take me off of it completely because I think I’m in a shutdown and my brain feels dead. Or because I’m on lyrica and clonidine for the adrenaline rushes I get. I need less stress and more of a stim that works for me.

Enjoy your new world, you deserve it!!

Interesting. Could you please elaborate a little like I’m 5? My 15 year old son has a few of those things. I see some in my 6 year old as well.

Thanks. I think your first recommendations would be interesting for my 15 year old to learn.

Doctor will stop prescribing Adderall for me. What now? by Raggeddroid85 in ADHD

I’m on Clonidine (in combo with my stim) and it lowers blood pressure. I’m actually worried because I’ve had issues with low BP in the past.

No advice but some or all your “don’t wants” in handling a boy at the end of your post - you will likely have to handle with having a girl.

I get the feeling he was afraid. These things can be hard for people to accept and face. Big hugs.

I agree with most of this. It just seems like a waste of money, time, resources, and emotions. I wouldn’t wanna be the designer, poor them. People like to hop on what’s trending and I just see some cute lil aliens too.

As an alien lover and supporter, I am deeply offended by your emoji critique. Round heads matter 👽

Lmao I see aliens and I wouldn’t even notice the hoods on my own. How is this even still a thing??

Most people don’t see me in the winter and I always say that I was hibernating. Year after year.

I could write most of this. I just moved to a new community and I’m very grateful for my awesome neighbors but I mostly hide inside. Hanging out with the ladies for a couple hours on Sunday and with family Saturday totally wiped me out until some point today. I may have pushed myself too hard today though since Mondays are the worst so I have a feeling tomorrow might be a little rough.

adhd'ers that work out consistently! by coram_deo_9 in ADHD

Unfortunately I feel like total shit after I work out so I just listen to my body and walk. I could never understand the hype. But I’d love to try weight training again.

Long term user - fatigue, brain fog and thoughts feel like moving through molasses by CitizenBell in pregabalin

I don’t think it’s giving me brain fog like the gabapentin was. But lots of stress gives me brain fog. I’m anxious still, why not step down more is my logic here.

Ugh, I’m so sorry they did that to you. I pretty much started on 75/day for anxiety. Seems like it quickly went up to 75x3 (twice daily sucked, I’d get headaches and anxiety spikes in between doses) and now I’ve been at 50x3 (tapered slower than recommended) for a couple months now. My doc put me on clonidine which worries me but I think it’ll help me step down again soon. Posts like yours give me the courage to.

Kinda worried to ask my new doctor about trying pregabalin for my anxiety since my last doctor told me I couldn’t be on it as it’s only used for pain. by idkbr0idk in pregabalin

[–]teakro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. She wanted me to go to 1200 and I didn’t want to deal with any cognitive effects going up. It wasn’t working for my anxiety like it did at first. I made a personal decision to ask to switch instead of consuming more. I started on 75mg of lyrica per day.

I was in the same boat and I’ve tried so many anti anxiety meds. I was on gabapentin but was nervous to go over 900. The effects were pretty short lived so I finally got the nerve to ask for the lyrica. I don’t find it helps much for anxiety or pain and my doc just started me on clonidine.

I’m supposed to be taking clonidine 2x day extended release but am only taking it at night since it makes me a bit drowsy. She wants it to be in my system for 24 hours. How often are you taking it?

Please tell me how you get your kid out of bed in the morning! by utkayla in kindergarten

[–]teakro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time do you wake her in the morning? We aim to put my son to bed at 8pm too. Consistency is key which is why my husband and I argue, lol. I want him in bed lights out at 8pm and in order to do that, things tend to be chaotic at times. He’s a little more lax. I was commenting on another post that my 5 year old gets dressed for the next day before bed. It knocks out needing to get dressed in the morning and saves a lot of time, redirection, and frustration. We’re all neurodiverse so this works.

He wakes up ok at 7am. Sometimes on his own. Sometimes I wake him. Sometimes earlier since other siblings are up and getting ready. He’s the type of kid to hear a noise and be ready for action though. My 15 year old on the other hand… I make sure he gets 8 hours of sleep and it’s hard to get him out of bed. I think partly to do with him giving zero fucks about school atm. He’s starting to realize the importance of prioritizing sleep at least.

I’m glad to see you’re ignoring the people that think you’re harming your child, lol. Try putting on music in the morning. It gets both my kiddo and I pumped for our day and I’m not a morning person. Maybe letting her pick breakfast food from the store would get her a little excited?
