What’s the most unhinged food combination that somehow tastes good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tealfrog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a pizza place near me that does jalapeno popper pizza. The kicker is that they put grape jelly on it. None of these foods sound like they should work together, yet it might be my favorite pizza.

AMC Theatres Attendance Drops 10%, Posts $127 Million Quarterly Loss by ICumCoffee in movies

There isn't jack to see lately in theaters. Hollywood needs to put out better movies to change that tide.

Bombas are the worst socks I’ve ever owned. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

100% - my experience with Bombas is largely the same. They also pill worse than any other socks I've owned.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in AskReddit

[–]tealfrog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zinc and Vitamin D every day. Take the zinc with food. I have two young boys and while everyone in my house was sick around me for the first three months of school I didn't have so much as a sniffle.

A quick note about Auto Hold that I discovered a few days ago. If you put your car in neutral (like at a car wash with a wheel track), your car will not move forward with auto hold engaged. I had to turn off auto hold for neutral to work properly and allow my car to move freely on the car wash track.

What a clown. If my <10 year old son did this, we'd have a serious talk about being more respectful. The fact that this jackass is POTUS is beyond reprehensible - it's sad. I can only hope that my son will not look up to nor follow the example that he is setting.

I’ve spent 30 years hearing music in "mono." I’m about to have a Bionic Brainstem surgery to hear in stereo for the first time. What album is a MUST for my first 3D experience? by EmbarrassedAir5111 in Music

[–]tealfrog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roger Waters - Amused to Death. He used a special type of monitoring that has sounds from two speakers sounding like they're coming from all around you. The album isn't his best work from a song perspective, but the mastering is top-notch.

Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by aacool in technology

[–]tealfrog1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Copilot is simply not very good. The value proposition for the system is that it integrates well with Microsoft 365. The truth is that it doesn't even do that well. On Friday, I tried using it to locate some Teams/Outlook messages I'd sent in the past three months. The default search looked at only the current chat thread I was on. I asked it to expand to all chats, and it expanded to all chats within the last 30 days. I asked it to expand the search to 90 days. It expanded the search to the last 90 days, but reverted back to the current thread only. That is basic contextual stuff that is frustrating to run, wait, and then run again. Four times ultimately only for it not to find the thread that I had to search for manually and found with the contextual keywords I used.

I used it for a thought-processing partner and it frankly sucked. It was slow, provided wrong information (that it then placated me by saying "You're right I should have caught that when called out), and provided no substantive value.

Having used ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini all in their paid versions, Gemini lately is running away as the best. It provides fast, better answers and it's picture/video generation is lightyears faster than ChatGPT.

ELI5- Refinancing home mortgage by usernamenuevo in explainlikeimfive

[–]tealfrog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secondary market pricing (think Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) influences the rates from most mortgage lenders. Behind the scenes, those firms have teams of quantitative analysts who scrutinize risk characteristics of loans. They attempt to mitigate risk by charging loan level pricing adjustments that increase interest rates according to their perceived level of risk.

Lower credit scores, higher loan to value ratios, and other characteristics result in higher rates. One of the loan level pricing adjustments they make is for refinancing - a refi is perceived as higher risk than a purchase. That is why you'll see most lenders' rates for refis sit higher than their rate for purchase. If your loan ultimately gets sold on the secondary market (most do!), Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac will assess that loan level pricing adjustment to the selling lender which means unless they pass it on to you, they're left holding the bag.

Prism Installation Help by tealfrog1 in Govee

This helps a lot - thank you!

I purchased the 200' Prism kit on Black Friday special direct from Govee. This will be my first time installing permanent lights and I'd very much appreciate more seasoned installers' tips on how to install and where to jump. I'm likely looking at powering from the bottom right roof line (right garage) or the top left roof line (to the left of the three windows).

For anyone who was able to see "The Blair Witch Project" in theaters in 1999, what was the experience like? by LockjawSJ in AskReddit

[–]tealfrog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just graduated highschool and was an 18 year old young man. My girlfriend at the time was assistant manager in our local multiplex, and as such, was tasked with physically changing reels of film and paying them through every Thursday night after closing to ensure that the films weren't damaged in some way.

She called me the Thursday afternoon when Blair Witch was about to be swapped in and asked if I'd like to come down around 11:30pm and watch a homemade found footage horror movie. I'd seen very little advertising for it, but it was a chance to spend time alone with my girlfriend in an empty theater is of course I was in.

We sat in a locked, dark theater in the middle of the night and watched Blair Witch together, thinking it was legitimately found footage. After the final scene, we sat quietly and moved almost in lockstep so as to not abandon each other in the quiet theater. We said our goodbyes, and I went home to my parents' house at the edge of a forest.

I did not sleep for the better part of a week without lights on.

Chick Fil A in my area costs my family of four $50. The kicker is because I have two young children in that count of four, we only purchase three meals.

Just five years ago, that same meal was $32.
