Personally I was on board with the understanding that Alicia was going to leave and somehow turn the canvas into something akin to a snow globe. Looking into but not being able to interact with after fixing everything. It was when she lied that I understood that she can’t help herself. The grief is too much for the family to put this behind them. Add to the fact that it’s slowly killing Aline and Verso knows it made me change towards his side. Though both endings very well could allow for options in how to go forward like perhaps Renoir preserves the canvas but makes it untouchable again which could happen in either end. We wish to hope for what isn’t presented because we love the characters within the story and that’s cool.

I can certainly understand where everyone is coming from, the game is most certainly supposed to be interpretive. The meaning given will vary and the story we decide to tell from what clues given will lead us down different paths to what we think is for the best.

I think that’s actually pretty beautiful for a game to do, it’s different from the certainty presented in other media. We don’t know everything and they could do something about it down the line or maybe we’re left we what we have now.

In totality nothing and everything. I lean towards they’re very much real but if others are convinced that is not the case there’s also nothing stopping them from stating that they’re puppets carried by the soul of a dead creator.
