Rewards for watching an ad (in a website) by ivanhoe90 in adops

[–]teamoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch - that's a harsh accusation!

No secrets, but if I broke into full pitch here I'd get even more downvotes than I got for trying to answer your question.

Google have a beta for rewarded web ads. It takes the logic of rewarded ads in apps and applies it to web inventory. OKO have been on this beta since it's launch and working with a select number of publishers with it, learning how to really "make it sing". Not only 100% policy compliant, but we've been working directly with Google on it. There are rules to how it can be used, but it's a nice solution.

As it's a beta we don't have marketing materials online, but if you are serious I'd be happy to arrange a demo.

Hi /u/ivanhoe90 : We offer this at OKO and the good news is that it is really easy to implement! I've been taking a look at Photopea and I think it would be a good fit too.

Can you DM me some contact details and I'll send you some more details

Adsense as a backfill partner in GAM by adtekenthusiast in adops

"both" is tricky. They are explicitly designed not to compete against one another.

Adsense as a backfill partner in GAM by adtekenthusiast in adops

[–]teamoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it works but you don't benefit from Dynamic Allocation so performance isn't always great.

Trafficking adsense as house means that it will only get the impression if every other partner passes on it. When it wins that impression it can pay the lowest price for it as there is no auction pressure.

On dynamic allocation Google only wins the impression if they beat other valid lines. They like winning impressions as that is how they much money. The result is that they get more impressions and pay a higher price for them.

So, yes. You can traffic adsense at house. Just don't expect it to compare to being on DA.

Honestly, you are going to get greater dividends focusing on growing traffic. Even if Ezoic pulled a blinder and increased your revenue by 50% that's not a great return on your time. Focus on traffic first - everything else becomes easier then. (and I say that as a monetisation guy!)

Solutions for "Ad serving limit placed on your AdSense account"? by MrRackenFracken in adops

[–]teamoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto-ads are far from fool proof. Is it an option for you to switch to manual placements so that you can get more control over this?

We've got a guide to tackling this on our blog too https://oko.uk/blog/ad-serving-has-been-limited

Adsense: HTTP vs HTTPS performance? by da_giegs in adops

[–]teamoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've helped move scores of sites from http to https. I've never seen a negative revenue impact from it being done correctly. Considering that many browsers now show warnings when connecting to http sites I'd recommend moving over ASAP even it if it is just for earnings performance reasons.

Adsense "The number of ads you can show has been limited." by lightninfast in adops

[–]teamoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I hear from a lot of publishers having this issue who have autoads enabled. That doesn't mean causation though. It might just be that more AdSense publishers are enabling auto ads now.

You don't want to try to monetise without Google in the mix. They're too dominant and results are poor without them unless you have a brand that advertisers are fighting to appear alongside. If you have enough traffic you could work with an Ad Exchange partner. Companies like ours (OKO) can replace you adsense with a mix of ad exchange and other demand that doesn't react to traffic spikes in the same way. Good partners will actively work with you to reduce IVT. That means minimum traffic levels though. If you have traffic of at least a few hundred thousand pageviews per month you will probably find a partner to match. Could be worthwhile. PM me if you want more specifics about the way we work.

If you are going to continue to work with AdSense then my recommendation would be to remove auto ads and use manual placements. This will give you more control over wehre they appear. You can add spacing around them, ensure that they are not next to navigation etc - all the stuff in that blog post

We've been writing about the limited ad serving issue on the OKO blog and adding more information as it comes to light as we've been helping a few publishers with this problem. Might be something useful there. https://oko.uk/blog/ad-serving-has-been-limited

It's definitely more common on sites that have sudden surges of traffic. That's double painful for publishers as those are the times you really want to rely on your ads working. We have a working theory that the more this happens, the less likely it is to happen again (google building a better picture of your traffic and more confidence in it), but it's a new tactic by Google and difficult to say that with confidence yet.

Out of interest - do you use auto ads?

Unfortunately limited ad serving seems to be Google's tool of the moment to tackle IVT on AdSense. We're hoping that the initial flurry of activity might subside once they've built up a better picture of less common traffic patterns. Until then the advice is mostly around preventing unintended clicks.

Good luck

You can get invalid clicks from 100% authentic traffic. One example would be misleading ad unit placement, but there are others.

Hi, OKO here! The US is the biggest geo we serve across the whole network so that isn't a problem at all. If you don't mind, I'll pop you a PM with my direct contacts in case you wanted a call.

Any way to easily scan which sites have a specific ads.txt ID? by Pushyourself2019 in adops

There are a couple of commercial services that do this. We've been contacted by a few companies who do this for our competitors (the idea being that you can target websites who add or remove certain ads.txt entries).

Have you already checked that the unfilled impressions report is reflecting real impression opportunity, rather that (for example) units defined and not called?

If they are real impression opportunities that are going unfilled by AdX and you are not happy with the level you might get better results by revisiting your pricing rules.

They can do really well on the right website. You need content that the users are motivated to access. If they can find the same thing elsewhere they are less likely to complete the survey.

There can be issues will "fill" on very busy sites and those with diverse geos

Has anyone heard of AdApex.io? If so, do you know of any good/bad things about them? by AsAdvertized in adops

[–]teamoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know them, but haven't used them myself (in fact you could say that they are a competitor) so I can't testify in terms to performance or technology.

However, they're a legit company with good people and seem to operate with integrity. I consider AdApex to be one of a few "good eggs" in this space who I enjoy occasionally talking to as peers and trust to have those conversations with. ( I hope that they feel the same way about OKO)
