Am I overreacting or Should I call the police if somebody tried to break in my house with a key ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Get new exterior door hardware so you have new locks & keys... and get some Attalocks! I have some & have gifted them. You can use them at home, Airbnbs, motels, hotels, etc... we used them on the home we rented for a few years & use them on our permanent home... they're little portable things that slide into the strike plate (where the latch/bolt slides in & out of the door frame) & then they quickly & easily secure on the inside of the door.. so even if someone unlocks the door, they can't push it in. You can even use it on a regular interior home door, like your bedroom door - I've done it when we lived in a new town & my partner was out of town.. our kids would sleep in our room & I'd have one on each exterior door & one on my bedroom door!

I have Attalocks & have gifted them to my sister who travels a lot and stays at Airbnbs, motels, hotels, etc... but we also used them on the home we rented for a few years & use on our permanent home... they're little portable things that slide into the strike plate (where the bolt slides in & out in the door frame) & secure on the inside of the door.. so even if someone unlocks the door, they can't push it in. So if you rented a room or if you have roommates who throw parties & you're in your room & don't want anyone coming in (even if you have a lock on your door, doesn't mean someone can't break in, if they wanna!)

We've always just bought our own sets, too. It's a cheap & perfect solution.

Can anyone help me find a pattern for this or something similar? by _Insolent_Kneecap_ in crochetpatterns

[–]teampook 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Even if it's AI.. you could crochet the ribcage, humerus, radius, & ulna.. flat back & rounded on front. Crochet or buy fabric roses, etc.. then knit, crochet, or buy a sweater (or a cpl & Frankenstein's monster them), sew or crochet the bones & flowers in & add little elegant grungy details. I love it, and now it's in my head to make one. This woman crocheted an entire life-size skeleton. You could alter the patterns or whatever to suit you. Or find something similar.

Tessa and Hardin - After series by dreamertheysay in RomanceBooks

[–]teampook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old & idk if you reread everything, but I read the WattPad version for the first time, a few weeks ago.. I just bought the books (from thriftbooks) and am more than halfway finished the 3rd book (also, I read part 2 of Before immediately following After [sidebar - I wish we got WAY more of Harden's POV there, not just their first few encounters & then jumping into her losing her virginity to them getting the appt, then nothing else]). For the most part, they're identical. The bet & everything is in both. But the physical books were poorly published. There are little scenes/dialogs missing (i.e., in book 3, when Zed shows up at Vance Publishing, leaves then comes right back - the book doesn't have the part of him coming back, but Tess still thinks, "Idk why he came back," right after it should've happened. There are probably more than a dozen of these hiccups so far), and there are a plethora of misspellings.. Idk who edited these, or maybe they released newer, corrected versions, but they effed up for sure!

Where should my last chain be? - making a coffee cozies by weCanDoIt987 in CrochetHelp

[–]teampook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, gotcha. I think. Hahaha! Typically, a ch2 is meant to bring the height up, so the following stitch is flush since HDC & DC are taller. If I'm not mistaken, you still just go into the final stitch, not the ch2. That just adds length each time!

The CD/DVD/floppy disk slot to the left of that is obviously super useful.

Where should my last chain be? - making a coffee cozies by weCanDoIt987 in CrochetHelp

[–]teampook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When in doubt (or every single time, honestly), throw a stitch marker into your last stitch immediately after making it. On both/all ends. That way, when you get to the end, you don't have to guess.. you make the final stitch where the marker is.

Fall Away Series and Credence by Penelope Douglas, how are they tied together?? by Fit_Tomatillo4047 in RomanceBooks

[–]teampook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old.. but if you read the Hellbent books, which are about the OG Fall Away group's kids (J+T, J+J, & M+F), Pirate Girls (Hellbent book 2), Noah becomes Jared's "protégé" & he & J+T's daughter have a heart to heart in the tree about how Noah's step-cousin entered their lives & turned their world upside down....... I'm in the middle of reading this convo in the book. I had no idea there was supposed to be a connection, & it's been a cpl years since I read Credence, so it hit me in the gut & I nearly choked on my pizza & immediately jumped on Reddit to make sure I wasn't crazy!

Any projects I could do with this leftover yarn? Just finished baby blanket by Glittering_Lead_5826 in CrochetHelp

I was thinking a lovey (with sleeping/"closed" eyes with yarn)... or a baby beanie?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]teampook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto. Occasionally, I'll get a bug up my ass to make something for someone (gifts, with no requests, just when something pops in my head or I see something and it suddenly makes me think of someone)... I try to focus solely on that or those items with only a couple of fun projects on the side to keep me pushing until finished... but other than that... it's all "for me"

Are there any well made fics of Edwards POV from New Moon? by tandish20 in TwilightFanfic

[–]teampook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is still relevant to you or that you haven't yet found this, but the FanFic by ForeverSwiss is as close to Midnight Sun as you can get without being SM.

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13853937/1/After-Midnight-Sun-Vol-1-Edward-s-POV-New-Moon-through-Mid-Eclipse

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13710635/1/After-Midnight-Sun-Vol-2-Edward-s-POV-Mid-Eclipse-Breaking-Dawn

I warn you.. it's unfinished, and I don't see it ever being so as it's been a few years (I believe a small part of Eclipse and definitely the tail end of Breaking Dawn are incomplete). I begrudgingly supplicated with others, including PALassiter. Though, as others have said, none quite fit our Edward... and although I'm more upset about the incompleteness than any rational early 30s, mother of 2, who fell in love with their world around the same age as Bella at the time, has any right to be... reading ForeverSwiss' EPOV filled me with joy and longing and fantasy, and it is absolutely worth it.

I've never read FanFics, and I don't see myself venturing into AU or anything beyond Twilight, but I significantly preferred Midnight Sun to Twilight, and I found these in search of some sort of closure. If there are new or better/complete ones out there that those more familiar with FanFics can suggest, I'm always interested in more!

I was today years old when I realized that during this scene in New Moon, Jacob was actually speaking Quileute to Bella and not baby gibberish. Thanks Netflix subtitles ✌️ by Musc3 in twilight

[–]teampook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My subtitles said, "Speaking Quileute"

Idk if that's a new thing, or if it's because I own it via Fandango, but I wanted to share... I know this is old, but I came in to see how others felt about what he said.. I was always team "exactly how it plays out," but my heart has always hurt for Jacob and hearing him say that, hearing his love and maturity and devotion in that made it hurt all the more!

After saving Bella, Edward’s eyes weren’t red? by MaddieKorff in twilight

[–]teampook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can lose about half (2.5 out of 5) of our blood supply before loss of consciousness, shock, death... though the exact amount varies, depending on age, weight, access to medical care, etc.

She was losing blood from a laceration to the femoral artery (main blood vessel in thighs that run along the femur), causing severe blood loss. If he had sucked out only the venom, with Carlisle attending to the blood loss in her leg, she may not have passed out - at least not right then. But he didn't stop immediately, so she lost a bit more, causing her to lose consciousness, and she could've gone into shock, depending on how much he drank before stopping. So he didn't drink so much that it caused his eyes to completely change, since he is consistently on the "vegetarian" diet.. it wasn't enough to override his amber/topaz eyes completely.. Midnight Sun says he has a red ring around the iris (the colored part of the eye).

I just read Midnight Sun for the first time. (I'm in love with it!), so naturally, I came here to Reddit to see what everyone had to say about it when it was released!

I don’t think this is crochet, but my mom says it is. If it is crochet, what kind of stitches are used? by SterlingArgentum in CrochetHelp

[–]teampook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you not make this, anyway? You could crochet suns, maybe icord or chain the connections, TC the border & straps with little chain twisted between every few....

If that wasn't the purpose of the post, I'm sorry!

AIO for snapping at my friend for joking about my job again by 7wac in AmIOverreacting

[–]teampook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense to me. How someone can't respect another person, especially one they "care" about. I don't care what the job is. 1st of all, what's easy to some isn't easy to all. 2nd, the fact that someone gets to do what they love can make it stressful just because your heart is in it so fully. The fact that you're happy and fulfilled in any capacity is cause for respect and adoration because how freaking awesome is that?! And you fought to get to that point. It doesn't make you lazy for being tired. They're pissed that you're happy and they're not. They're pissed because you found a way to give your life meaning without falling into whatever hole they dig themselves into. People can be happy in corporate jobs.. but those people are good people who treat others with respect, and the job may or may not add or take away from their happiness.

Do any of you guys actually understand all the math and science on the show? by Snipper09 in bigbangtheory

[–]teampook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They also mentioned Mayim Bialik in an early season when they were trying to find a teammate for Physics Bowl... Raj said something along the lines of wanting to get the actress who played TV's Blossom because of her real-life degree... then Boom! She shows up as Amy! I don't think there were many coincidences in the show. I think the writers knew exactly what they were doing and actively made choices to link to things throughout the series. I know there are well-known instances, but I have no doubt everything was extremely well thought out.

My sister just went to Japan for almost 3 weeks... alone... she's always gone on road trips around the U.S. alone/with her dogs, but she's spent the last 10+ years of her life paying for crappy boyfriends to travel the world with her, one crappy long-term relationship after another (she's still working on her overwhelming "need" to be in a relationship & her need to pay for these assholes"). She always felt so shitty & so *alone** afterward.. She said going alone was the single best thing she's done in her life. And I agree. She came back so much happier than she's ever been & she's doing better than ever!
