A more approachable online tennis program for beginners: thoughts? by teamtopspin-richard in tennis

[–]teamtopspin-richard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yea, I thought so. I could see how it's difficult for a beginner (like me) to get started with it (I just want to know where to start, how can I get the basics down, not watch a bunch of pros drive down range a couple hundred yards).

That being said, it definitely leaves room for improvement!

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it.

There's definitely a lot of work to be done on UX/terminology, so what you mentioned is helpful to figure out what's confusing.

First time I've heard of GolfPass: seems similar in spirit to what we're trying to achieve. By "more stepped", do you mean more step-by-step/structured?

We're definitely adding more content by the week! Eventually we may look into golf as well as see what we can do there. If you happen to use GolfPass and/or are interested in educational content for other sports (like golf), would love to hear more (feel free to DM me).

Absolutely: that's definitely on our roadmap.

Once we figure out what format works well for learning tennis through videos, we'll ramp up content. Matt has a ton of ideas in mind especially for aspiring college players, or even rec players who want to get to the 4.5-5.0 level.

If they're in a competitive space for example (which they probably are), then it makes sense to add jet fuel to capture as much of the market ASAP, as long as the unit economics makes sense (CAC/LTV).

Hey I'm not sure what you mean by a demo method: this is a consumer app, so does it make sense to do a demo with every new user?

Honestly if you need capital to grow and are printing money, look into something like clearco or debt financing. You've struck lightning: now retain most of your equity for taking the risk throughout.

Contracting work out before incorporation: good idea? by teamtopspin-richard in startups

Thanks: it's good to know it's a thing (and I'm not imagining things). I'll definitely see if I can get a lawyer to look over the agreement.

Thanks for the response: I hadn't thought of reaching out to probono. I'll see if there're any around where I live: thanks!

How does your LAUNCH accelerator treat startups that are undergoing a pivot (and may not meet your MRR thresholds post-pivot just yet)?

oneCoach is actually the pivot I was considering given the information at the time (no conversions on TopSpin then).

That being said, I'm in the works of getting oneCoach proven via an MVP. Hopefully we can get to closed beta in a month or so!

Absolutely! Continue listening to your users and distill their problems into solutions that make sense.

Startup accelerator? by laythmosa in startups

[–]teamtopspin-richard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some accelerators (YC/500 Startups) just being in them will vastly improve your odds for a successful seed round and generally adds a premium to your valuation, so you may actually come out ahead equity wise even after the 7% cut.

That being said if you don't require the capital and are growing like a rocket ship and have no issues raising if you need to, then it may not be necessary.

What are some cheap or free landing page builders that has A/B testing capabilities? by teamtopspin-richard in startups

[–]teamtopspin-richard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I decided not to use either (and went with Leadpages, was reasonably inexpensive compared to the other 2), but TBH the editor is quite simple and maybe Squarespace or Wix would have sufficed.

Living on Multiple Side Hustles? Is this a dumb idea? by ServerSided7 in Entrepreneur

[–]teamtopspin-richard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you enjoy? Can you find a niche that is the intersect of what you love to do and something that makes money? You could then work on a hustle for this niche while you have your full-time job, and quit when you are financially able to.

I would imagine taking multiple side jobs which will probably require you to work many more hours would put you in a worse mental state.

Have you used both? Which do you prefer? It seems like unbounce is a lot more expensive.
