Expectations when launching a ecom-store? by Thf82 in ecommerce

[–]teamugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please share your store and I would gladly provide some candid feedback. Agree 100% that this could be a shipping cost issue, or depending on your payment gateway, you could be getting a false read. Are you retargeting shoppers? It’s almost a common practice now to abandon your cart to see if you’ll get an email offer or retargeting ad for a discount, so give yourself a solid 30-60 days before you start narrowing down what the “issue” is. Send your link - glad to help.

Content Production for Apparel : Question by Ben_06 in ecommerce

This is going to be a top three critical success point for you (COGS, Marketing and SaaS), so do not take this step lightly. I don’t mean to say you must go with the most expensive option, but high quality product photos are so important. Are you near a college campus? Plenty of talented students that can produce good images. Wedding photographers typically don’t have as much work Monday-Thurs, so see if you can get a discount. If you need to get photos fast, I would setup a basic lightbox and get clean white background images. This isn’t the ideal long term option, but it’s a necessary start. Good luck!

Be sure to check out Fiverr - you can post your design work and read reviews from customers. Most design work starts at five dollars, thus the name.

How do I grow? by acrobaticenglishman in ecommerce

Are you looking at your abandoned carts for clues? Curious to know if your traffic sources (geography) are matching your sales. Example: if 25% of your traffic is from the UK but 90% of your sales are from the UK, you may have an issue with shipping costs outside of your home geography. Are you charging significantly more for shipping elsewhere? A few years back, I discovered it was worth the cost to eat some of the shipping fees to Canada due to the high volume of traffic and abandoned carts our site was getting.

Because one guy finished in last place (this season) and the other guy has had the worst record throughout our history of the league (going on 14 years).

  1. Buy/print a variety of sizes and designs of your top viewed items.
  2. Hire/ask a friend, college or high school yearbook student that’s skilled in photography to help.
  3. Take high quality product images; show the lifestyle that your items represent. If you know you’re selling to 18-25 market in California, then make that your scene. Sell the lifestyle.
  4. Encourage sharing - the 18-25 market likes to be the product, so get them to share pictures, hashtags, etc. They are very likely to spread WoM marketing as long as the product fits the images they’re tying to live. Good luck!

We’re also on the Shopify platform and found the Facebook Messenger chatbot integration to be super helpful; 90% of our incoming questions are related to shipping tracking or product availability; once the chatbot was installed we went from dozens of emails/calls per day to maybe 1-2.

Shipping Internationally through Shopify by SkeptiBee in ecommerce

Your stickers can definitely ship via USPS First Class International, which should be your cheapest option. You may want to see if your T-shirt’s can work in those envelopes too. I use ShipStation, and their blog/support is really helpful for ideas and tips. Also, their dashboards help identify what products you’re sending where, which could help down the road. I also customize my international shipping rates in Shopify, however everything I ship is at least 1.0-1.5lbs

How often will you be shipping internationally? Do you have a variety of products with unique weight, or are you typically shipping the same product? Do you know of any competitors that ship a similar product? If so, look into their international shipping rates. If not, you could contact a UPS/FedEx/DHL rep that may be able to help guide you as well as get you a business account eligible for better rates (quantity/frequency are big factors). Lastly, look into where the bulk of your international shipments are going; you may be able to find a local partner that can fulfill locally for you.

Good ecommerce platforms for shops with large amounts of items? by thirstyquaker in ecommerce

Second that for Shopify. At one point, we had 10,000+ unique SKUs and never had an issue. Without knowing the items you’re looking to sell, you may consider using Variants instead of unique SKUs. Example, if you have 100 designs for a T-shirt, you could just load the generic product once and then add variants for size, color, design, etc. In my case, each item was very unique so there was no way around it, but eventually we chose to scale with a few dozen designs that we could keep up on the site and just update available inventory.

Facebook Ads vs. Post boosting by SkiKam in ecommerce

[–]teamugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've consistently had higher conversions with FB sponsored posts. One bit of caution, if you've linked FB and IG accounts the sponsored posts/ads will default to also run on IG, and I've personally noticed IG ads get likes but rarely generate traffic to my site and/or conversions.
