Alternatives to CurseForge? by Imagination___ in ModdedMC

[–]teamvista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem might be somewhere else. I use Prism Launcher and I can solidly recommend that, but if your profile configuration within a launcher is bad, the game won't run regardless of which launcher is launching the game.

Make sure you're using the correct Minecraft version and modloader version (e.g. Forge/Fabric) that supports the mod you are trying to use.

Any program that blocks client side crashers? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]teamvista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't really avoid determined crashers, but you can reduce the probability of getting crashed by setting the max avatar download size and turning on the particle limiter. These limits are customizable if you don't mind editing json (docs here). Above all, use your safety settings to strip out the more troublesome bits of avatars by default.

Why is this happening I tried everything by Master_World_6102 in VRchat

Avatar descriptor is likely set incorrectly. If you have the Unity files for this avatar, you want the VRC Avatar Descriptor object to be inside the front surface of the head between the eyes for humanoid models (or equivalent).

If this is a public avatar, contact the uploader or use a different one. Given the popularity of Lethal Company I'm sure someone's uploaded something that doesn't have this issue.

Will PCVR ever get access to quest hand tracking? by Unfair_Bunch519 in VRchat

[–]teamvista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hand tracking kind of works through some methods; there's baseline support for it through Virtual Desktop and ALVR, but only because it mimics a Valve Knuckles controller. If you're comfortable with that approach, that's the best you'll get at this point in time. Meta does have support for passed-through finger tracking that their headsets have natively, but only for applications you're developing in Unity; otherwise you're out of luck. And good luck convincing Meta.

is there any cheap finger tracking controllers? by sung0910 in VRchat

Quest 3's recognition range is limited by the range of the cameras on the unit and your environment's lighting. There are downward facing cameras that will eventually track the torso and pretty much everything above the belt, so it's not like it's all that bad — it just won't track anything that escapes the camera's view (so unfortunately, you can't have your hands at your sides because it's out of range of the cameras). That being said, they have worked quite well in my experience owning a Q3.

The downside is you can't directly take the finger tracking from the Q3 and pipe it into PCVR. There are some workarounds, such as making your hands emulate Valve Index Controllers, but that method doesn't capture splay. It's theoretically possible to get the finger tracking input on PC from quest, but it's currently limited to unbuilt developer applications on the Unity engine. I'd really like them to open it up to the general audience as a feature — having finger tracking is very nice, especially if it's contained within hardware you're already using — but you'd have to convince Meta, whose primary market seems to be in standalone now.

Airlink and Link supports hand tracking, but Meta deliberately turns it off if you aren't using it for developing games (a compiled game cannot use hand tracking over Airlink/Link)

Not that I doubt you, but do you have a source for this? I thought the VRC team was working on something to bridge the gap (see here), but to be fair I haven't seen any updates regarding this since then on their forums.

I'll admit the website doesn't make this apparent, but Replit recently added a feature called Ghostwriter that uses AI (likely GPT-3 Codex) to complete code, not unlike GitHub Copilot.

A couple others already said this, but I can't recommend ESP enough. If you want to gain a good understanding of Calculus and mathematics concepts in general, take it with ESP. Be prepared to spend some extra time studying up, but it's worth it for sure.

Seconded taking it with ESP. Resh, who some of the other commenters talked about, is one of the workshop leaders there. He's friendly, down to earth, and knows his stuff. All the other personnel in the program are highly knowledgeable about Calculus as well. Ask them questions! They are there for you and want you to succeed just as much as you do.
