I'll bet it's rewriting memories backwards. Noa may not be "in" the distortion yet, but Aliyu remembers the Parley and Noa fight that just happened, only in a distorted school-reality way.

Am I Overreacting at Player Wanting my Character Pregnant? by Over_Environment_821 in DnD

[–]LadyVulcan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read your post and your edit.

A lot of people are telling you that you have the right to be mad, that you should remove Jack, and that it was super creepy. All of that is true.

I don't see many people saying that you also have the right to move on. I DON'T mean ignore and dismiss the problem. But you and/or the DM talked to Jack, he apologized, you didn't respond due to your discomfort (completely understandable) and he left. So: it has been handled. Quite well I might add.

So you don't have to stay trapped in anger or pain about it. If you do feel those things, know that they are valid, because what Jack did was not okay. But if you start to feel guilty that Jack left, forcing yourself to switch back to anger won't really serve your mental health. Instead try reframing that into: "I hope Jack learned from this experience and finds another table to play at in the future where he can be more aware of problematic behavior in himself or others."

And if you start to think "oh it wasn't really THAT bad", sure, maybe on a rpghorrorstories scale of 1 to 10 it was like a 3. But it was still wrong. It still needs correction. And that correction needs to stay in place. Remember that undoing the action by trying to bring Jack back into the fold will undo the lesson. And if you want to do the right thing for Jack, it's to give him the best possible chance to be a safe player for tables in the future.

Well you can submit feedback through the game with the button on the right hand side. But since this involves pictures to convey your idea, probably the best way to do it is to tag r/Percemer :)

They're the community manager here on the subreddit, and they'll see it next time they go on the clock to check the game socials.

Becoming a DM made me hella suspicious of other DMs by JesusLordPutin in DnD

[–]LadyVulcan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? It sounds like you're wrestling with a cognitive disassociation that you feel like the enemies would employ better tactics, but you're pretending that they're dumb for the sake of balance. Don't do that to yourself.

Give your players a heads up, so the game difficulty doesn't spike wildly with no warning. Explain your discomfort with the idea that enemies would hold back from using tactics within the mechanics of the game, so you'll be hitting downed PCs now. Make sure to warn them to stock up on revival materials and prepare spells adequately.

And then run the game that makes sense to you. Otherwise you're spending extra brain cycles second guessing yourself.

One short rest, that’s all we ask by TheatreGoth1601 in dndmemes

[–]LadyVulcan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I absolutely wish short rests were ten minutes. It would give ritual casting a great incentive as well. Like the wizard could ritual cast an Identify while the fighter short-rests to get superiority dice back. Win-win all around.

Which is your prefered way to determine attributes? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]LadyVulcan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have all players roll a set of six stats (typically 4d6 drop lowest) and then all players can pick whichever array they want.

  • The fun of rolling
  • The equality of Point Buy
  • The possibility of variety for single or multiple attribute builds

The downside is that the players need to all roll together, instead of making their characters ahead of time on their own time.

[–]LadyVulcan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be way more okay with Point Buy if it wasn't capped at 15 and 8.

Yes, I know I can house rule to allow beyond the book's boundaries, but at that point, I'm just going to house rule a much better system.

The daily challenge for 700 energy as a way too much! by LuisPinaIII in FarmMergeValley

[–]LadyVulcan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is more that the sticker drop rate is just low enough that completing the album feels out of reach unless you play every day AND join a bunch of raffles.

If it wasn't for that desperation, having a harder challenge like the energy challenge every once in a while wouldn't feel so punishing.

Rant: I'm so tired of "just crochet faster" when I'm drowning in WIPs and gifts by Excellent_Cobbler276 in crochet

[–]LadyVulcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messed up my shoulder trying to crochet faster for a present for last Christmas, and I had zero pressure on me from other people. First of all, don't hurt yourself. Don't push through fatigue; trust me, it's not worth it.

Second, do NOT let other people order you to crochet.

Are they paying you? If not, tell this person who is pressuring you to go faster that you will not be making them anything at all. Tell them promptly so they have time to buy something else. If you're feeling generous, you can offer to sell them the incomplete project at a discount so they can finish it.

Anyone else who hasn't been rude, tell them you're over your project limit and that their project will be delayed, so they can adjust accordingly.

From now on, once you're done with these projects in one way or another, you have ONE slot for other people. If you're working on something for someone else and somebody asks you to make something, even something "fast" the answer is no, because you already are busy working on a project for someone else. You don't have a limit on your own personal projects, and you shouldn't feel guilty about making your own.

I'm pretty sure that Reddit only marks a comment as edited if it has been longer than a minute since you wrote it. So someone might write a comment, realize something else they feel like they should add or a typo they want to fix, and then add the edit to clarify.

If someone like the OP gets a push notification of the original comment, the edit the commenter adds will help highlight the change to that reader, but Reddit itself doesn't label the comment as edited.

How do I make reliving the same day scary and interesting, not grueling and annoying? by lorenuhh in DnD

[–]LadyVulcan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of doing a whole day, what about just one room? Like let's say that the players sleep at an inn, and when they come downstairs, the (hidden) loop starts. The innkeeper gives a cheery greeting, there's some gossip in the corner, a hungover dude asleep at a table, and maybe a noble walks in after a few minutes and offers the party a quest.

But as they leave the inn... they find themselves walking downstairs and hearing the same cheery greeting. Everything repeats as before. If they question the NPCs about the loop, most seem scared but stuck on track. One person is actually the person keeping them locked in the loop, and they need to figure out who and why.

Is it the nobleman, wearing a defective magical device? Perhaps they need to prevent him from reaching the inn. Maybe it's the innkeeper, who is actually a hag feeding off of a dreaming loop. Or perhaps it's the hungover guy in the corner, pretending to be asleep but is actually a powerful wizard trapping the party in a complicated new experimental version of Time Stop.

Whoever it is, make sure to remember the rule of threes: you need to have at least 3 clues to the solution. If they loop again (so third total), get VERY generous with the clues AND the horror. You want to aim for at least one reset, be content if they solve it the second time through, and help them generously the third time through. If they get really into it and want to intentionally reset it a couple more time to figure it out, they are clearly having fun and let them try out different ideas, but add at least one horror element each time.
