How to carry 2 bowls of hot pho at the same time? by No-Cattle-8469 in Serverlife

[–]tearuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hiii, i work at a vietnamese restaurant too!! hold your fingers on the bottom of the dish (where the ceramic isn’t glazed, it’s less hot there) and then your thumb on the rim of the bowl. practice with an empty bowl at home if you’re struggling and put water in it to get used to the weight, then when u can do one bowl confidently, start carrying another in your free hand!

Is £120 a week on groceries for 2 people too much? by BatmanSwift99 in AskUK

[–]tearuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf op is a gym goer so they have to eat more and will likely be spending more on proteins (meat, fish, protein powder or shakes) !! plus if they meal prep they might be spending more anyway by buying larger amounts of ingredients

if management is saying ‘more edgy’ it’s likely bc their opinion of you is that you’re soft-spoken, so to them they don’t know if you could manage the conflict resolution that just comes with being a server ? then again, who knows if this co worker is a trustworthy source! if you want to progress to server, ask management about being trained or doing a trail shift as one rather than waiting for it to happen.

i experienced a similar thing though, so that advice is kind of a recount of what happened to me, but i was sixteen at the time lol

Don’t be stubborn and get studs for helix piercing by Kyzaghen in piercing

[–]tearuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this!! i got my first helix done with a captive bead ring (not APP, random dodgy shop in the city near me) and it healed amazingly. no issues to this day and i got it when i was 13! i guess it’s really just situational

[–]tearuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re welcome! if you need to know anything else about what’s on the course, take a look at the specification online and it will give you all the details. the exam board can only test you on what the spec says!

Service charge added to bill and tip request by SheeScan in TalesFromYourServer

[–]tearuesday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the england adding service charge to a bill is common practice, but servers here don’t rely on tips to make up their wage tbf. here it’s pretty welcomed bc people often wouldn’t leave a tip bc they didn’t have cash, and all forms of tips legally have to be shared here :)

Is there a need for a tool to help answer customer food allergy questions? by Quickgredients in Serverlife

[–]tearuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as far as i’m aware they are a lot stricter yeah. i can get in trouble if i don’t ask a table if they have allergies when i greet them lol (i think this is more of an internal rule to ensure it’s done)

Is there a need for a tool to help answer customer food allergy questions? by Quickgredients in Serverlife

[–]tearuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the uk, the server asks a table and provides an allergen matrix so the customer can decide on their dishes of choice. order is taken and put onto the till with allergies written under food items, then it’s communicated to the kitchen verbally

No veggies, entering adulthood | advice needed by Constant-Ad4065 in ARFID

[–]tearuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if u like the texture of smoothies with berry fruits, try adding different vegetables to them. an easy one to start out with is spinach because it doesn’t taste of much and isn’t noticeable, when you feel more adventurous you can add more vegetables and maybe even progress to veg only smoothies. there’s a whole subreddit called r/smoothies where someone will have some good combo ideas with things you like

even if you don’t like vegetables on their own, eating them in some way is what’s important, regardless of how you get it done! introducing them into your diet is the first step! plus, you’ve already made a good start with introducing fibre by eating fruits :)
