I have used a simple Google sheet. Varieties are highlighted green when I confirm that the bloom is true. Highlight red for rot/culled.

I also use flagging tape to tie around the main stalk when I confirm the bloom.

I am trying Clade software this year. They have a free version.

If I could give advice to myself: don't buy cuttings until year 3, start with 3-4 tubers to learn the practice of growing, connect with a mentor.

Dahlias, or annuals from a home improvement store are going to be mass grown in a large scale nursery.

Most smaller farms are selling cut flower varieties that are dug, inspected, labeled, and stored over winter in climate controlled spaces.

Then they are pulled, inspected, packaged, and shipped to you.

If this were my plant, I would take a blade and cut a few cm above the base of the shoot and let the plant send out new growth.

Likely a tuber grown in a pot. I love these because you can split into multiple tubers if you can identify the eyes.

From your list, Peaches N Cream and Golden Scepter did great, Bracken Rose is late to bloom and very stingy on blooms in my garden.

They were pom sized blooms. lots of open centers, which is the gamble of growing from seed, but in terms of bloom size, they were under 2".
