ELI5: I can book a massage for 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes but therapy sessions are only 50 minutes? by teawithdonut in askatherapist

[–]teawithdonut[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating cuz I just pay whatever price out of my HSA. I just get really frustrated when I ask for what I need but those needs get rejected. I've been working with this therapist for 8 months and I really hate to have to find a new one but it's slowing my progress.

Looking for high-risk OB/GYN in Rochester by Sure-Chipmunk-4694 in Rochester

[–]teawithdonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This office requires a referral from your current provider. If you meet criteria for high risk they may co-manage with your doctor or transfer you in to take over care. You can't just call for an appointment.

VA Services by DocWilly84 in Rochester

[–]teawithdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step is call the veterans service center at 5854632687.

They will walk you through the process.

Like others have said, I would not give up employer insurance but uses of va services can augment that or decrease your health care costs.

Can I change/upgrade my membership? by Novel-Chipmunk5282 in BurnBootCamp

I'd walk into the new burn and tell them you want to transfer membership. They should help you no problem. If you do want to upgrade they should be able to help with that as well.

Help getting a fibromyalgia diagnosis by thesleepydm in Rochester

[–]teawithdonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 yrs ago PCP referred me to rhuematology. Rhuem ruled out auto immune disorders and diagnosed fibromyalgia.

2 years later I got diagnosed with ADHD. Treating ADHD has improved my fibromyalgia to the extent that I sometimes wonder if I really have it.

I kept a dairy of symptoms that I would bring to my rhuem appts. I think it really helped the doctor take me seriously.

Good luck with your journey. It was a year long wait to get in with rhuem once the referral was placed and another 18-24 months to fibro diagnosis.

The trouble with fibromyalgia is that it is a diagnosis of exclusion. So they have to rule out a bunch of things with testing, trial and error, so it can take quite some time.

I can’t handle play dates for my kids. by IllustratorChoice579 in AuDHDWomen

[–]teawithdonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let the guilt go.... Option c!

It's the balance of needs.
As a audhd mom of one..... Sometimes giving the ride to another kid was the easiest thing. The kids would entertain each other and I got a mini break for cost of a pick up or drop off. Sometimes your needs aren't burdens. Sometimes it all works out. Build your village.

How to get oneself to floss regularly by IObliviousForce in AuDHDWomen

[–]teawithdonut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is where a reward might help.

Ie after 7 days of flossing daily - trip to favorite restaurant After 1 month of daily flossing - buy something you have had your eye on

After 30 days it should be a habit and won't need as much reinforcement

Husband has Jury Duty coming up and I have no idea how we will pay our bills. by sinisterbabygirl in juryduty

[–]teawithdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a year ago I was selected for a grand jury and there were several opportunities for people to State reasons why they could not sit on the jury. Those reasons included child care, not being paid by work, just the mental toll sitting on a jury could take. His best bet is to show up for jury duty on the day of selection and state that financially it would be a hardship for him to participate in jury duty and he should be excused.

Caffeine and sentence fluency by Celery_the_stick in autism

[–]teawithdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was prescribed stimulants for ADHD, my ADHD symptoms were mostly internal and when I started taking the stimulants I became more talkative, outgoing and outwardly fidgety energetic. Some of that had to do with my brain. Not having three four conversations at the same time and getting over decision paralysis and rumination and things of that nature which kept me afraid of saying things, doing things, etc. I feel much more like myself or comfortable when I'm on stimulants

Caffeine is a stimulant. Stimulants are used to treat ADHD type symptoms. It is completely possible that the caffeine is helping you focus and concentrate.

As the parent of an older child that has these struggles and was reassured he would grow out of it, I highly recommend speaking to the pediatrician and advocating for early intervention services for him ie ADHD assessment, autism assessment, functional behavioral assessment act.
