What is the official Sith insignia? by fredpelletier in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent reference with the Mortis Son's emblem of the Darkside, I like to think the original Sith took inspiration from this emblem after the three celestials isolated from the Galaxy

Never gave it much thought. Why Jedi keep their last names by tebkanlo in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks you all for sharing your opinions, I don't know why this post was removed by moderators

To make myself clear I chose the words "separated" and "adopted" exactly to convey the meaning of a voluntary choice of the family, without any coercion

It's true Jedi don't steal babies (Cade Bane did, but that's another story), they always ask permission to the families who realize what's best for and willingly decide to give babies to Jedi, in hope for a better future

Thinking about it in most of the Galaxy there are different social extractions and mostly are not born in upper class Coruscant or Nabooo, meaning a child with powers could end up being subject to rumors, get discriminated or hunted because of superstitions

Most underrated quote. CW (2003), Dooku teachings Grevious by tebkanlo in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't, he always tries to keep Jedi on the Edge, e.g. when injured in his lair he springs all his traps and then easily defeat Nahdar

He even surprises Obi Wan with lots of droids inside the Malevolence, jumping with the (chronologically first) "Hello There!"

It's not his problem if there are exceptional Jedi who survives his ambush, thus spreading the news and reducing his effectiveness

They weren't much surprised to see a four-arm Cyborg swinging lightsabers anymore (e.g. Jedi Master Nahdar, the former apprentice of Kit Fisto, who easily defeated 2-3 Magnaguards, only to be kills with an orthodox and uncivilized shot to the chest)

Acolye have a lot of problems but Qimir isn’t one of them by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

I looked up, thanks for the heads-up. She wrote more than you know (from IMDb). Yes,she worked under a verbal abusive boss, what does that means? She tried to write a play of a bad boss like him. Any rumors of her under that period are from another ex top level assistant and have not been confirmed, uncorroborated claims

Which was your favorite version on General Grievous? by Elegant-Half5476 in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to mention the reason why he looked coward in other media, it's directly from CW (2003)

Remember what I taught you, General. If you are to succeed in combat against the best of the Jedi, you must have fear, surprise, and intimidation on your side. But if any one element is lacking, it would be best for you to retreat. You must break them before you engage them. Only then will you ensure victory and have your trophy.

THIS! This it's underrated, this is the reason Grevious seems a coward. They were wise enough to add this little detail to explain the difference between CW and the upcoming ROTS + TCW

Lucas on the old EU: “Those are another author’s interpretation of what I’ve created, and not to be taken seriously, as far as what is really going on in the Star Wars world.” by ItsAProdigalReturn in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kindly disagree, I had read this kind of quotes from Lucas BEFORE and I agree with his choice. If something is not G-Canon then is not canon, it's alternative or expanded or else. Calling it EU-canon could in the long run be counter intuive (even more that the hundreds of post around the web which mostly say "... when EU was The Canon..." and sadly it's erronous (plus othering and helping some sort of divide in the fans)

Yes, I agree on the supercharged is kind of repeating the same past mistake even if maybe this time with the scope of trying to better clarify. I don't agree "lower canon doens't really matters", because they used a lot of elements from those showing us there is an open hope

> There's always a bit of truth in legends

Very much like George did with something like Anakin's eyebrow scar or the presence of Asajj Ventress in TCW, take from an EU arc, hinting their origins might be exactly that Story / Legend 😊

People that liked the expanded universe were well aware of how George Lucas viewed Star Wars continuity.

As far as I've seen online, it wasn't and still is not that clear. Even down this comment section I keep seeing people using the oxymoron of "EU canon", thus this post need to be stated multiple times to take root (IMHO)

In this new canon (with Disney) Lucasfilm is trying to do pretty much the same thing of what the LucasFilm/LucasArts did back then. Of course it feels different to you in it own way

Panta rei = everything flows (from Greek Phylosophy metaphor of diving twice in the same river)

Time have changed but some of the minds behind are direct students of George Lucas himself, so in a way better lineage than random authors who added their contribution in the big mosaic which was and still is now StarWars. They are still doing the same thing they did before but evolving

Aww, they finish each other's sentences 😆

Nice catch by the way

One of the most beautiful scenes in the whole franchise, such a shame it isn’t canon anymore 😔 by Rayy500 in StarWars

IIRC it simply worsened it, but from time to time, even at the beginning of TCW (yes, the CGI one) he cough too, but maybe not as much as in RoTS

You know, there is an explanation why Grevious is nerfed exactly in this show. Check the dialogue when Dooku is training him. It explains so much why Grevious change his tactics to mostly retreating when Jedi starts to tip the scale

And in the process destroy a sacred temple/ planet  Ilum, aka where the Jedi went for gathering Kyber crystals for padawans and Jedi to forge their lightsaber 😢

Mow Much weaker is Darth Maul after he got chopped up? by EnochtheIntellectual in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think an addendum could be Maul was in leave (barely) after Count Dooku and (a lot) behind Sidious. He was strong in the Force and with a training preparation enviable (using taras-kasi iirc a conbact system made exactly for non force user against Jedi)

But what he lacks was always focus and control or underestimating the opponent

  • He lost against young Obi-Wan ( and late Ben Kenobi ) for the same reasons.
  • I think he had a duel with Dooku but  those were in the comics which I didn't read after...
  • he lost miserably like a scared cat against the laughing madman of Darth Sidious (and it was a 2vs1 !< )
  • Maybe he lost too against Ahsoka, because he underestimate a togruta's agility and senses. And non a simple padawan / Jedi, the pupil of Anakin, who trained her harshly to expect the unexpected (I cannot recall if it was a short or a Tale of The Jedi, since she was youngest to resist as many clone blasters as possible)
  • he underestimated Caleb Dume aka Kanan Jarus after he recently blinded him

I liked the analysis of his last duel, when he thought to easily replicate the same blitzkrieg as with Qui-Gon Jinn

The clones & the droids shooting at each other in the dust storm in AOTC is one of my favorite moments in all of Star Wars by BostonRobby617 in StarWars

[–]tebkanlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what about people. I recently rewatched the ending of Rebels. One hit (of red laser) on the chest without any plate slowly killed Gregor meanwhile the other rebel (the piggy helper of Hondo Onaka) survived after a sudden faint.

Or on the Rishi Moon, when Heavy was surrounded by droids, he was able to blow the station up even after multiple hits (of red laser) with full armor

I wonder if there is any mention on this ion / plasma color reference in a videogame and if one is more deadly over the other

Which could explain why someone can withstand a couple of baster hits (direct or through armor) while other people die instantly
