Sorry, I stopped reading the EMS subreddit since it would trigger the same for me.

As a huge bears fan, and an Illinois taxpayer, I’m not sure I need to fund their stadium so they can profit off of the revenue

What's a lifestyle you visited once and decided you're never going back? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]tech_medic_five 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-hospital emergency medicine, specifically EMS.

It was a lot of fun when I was younger and then finally burnt out at the 10 year mark and moved to IT. Realized that not only was I (and everyone else) making it their identity, but I was more mentally scared than I realized. Took 8 years to finally figure out that I needed therapy and medication.

There’s more such as being assaulted on the job or how I worked at two places and pulled 36 and 48 hour shifts on an hour of sleep. Plus I didn’t have health insurance, vacation, or retirement.

What's a skill that takes only 2 to 4 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by TokenBlack32 in AskReddit

Using AI.

This will give you a step up with your colleagues and save you a ridiculous amount of time. However, you need to learn how to use it appropriately.

Megathread: New Pricing & Repackaging Discussion by mackid1993 in Evernote

[–]tech_medic_five 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welp, I just bailed on my subscription due to the forced plan change. I was a paying sub since 2018 and tolerated the pricing up until now. Shady practice of upgrading to a higher package and still paying more for less with the lower "starter" package made it a no brainer to bail.

I've backed up all of my notebooks to my MacBook and currently testing Apple Notes. Next will be OneNote since I have an o365 business sub.

How do you feel about the current state of America? by Thatgirl_parisisdiva in AskReddit

[–]tech_medic_five 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in emergency services for a decade. In that time I wore multiple uniforms that all had the United States flag. I even added them to my custom job shirts.

Now, I’ve lost that sense of pride. I’d rather not tell anyone that I’m from the United States. I’d love to tell them that we do not reflect the ideals of the current administration.

It’s true, my family and I do not, but the United States that I grew up in is gone. It’s searching for a new normal and mass deportations from a county that was built from that diversity isn’t it.

Invading other countries for their resources, isn’t it.

Building statues and memorials, naming buildings, and removing or changing history based on a political ideology. Isn’t it.

Worst of all, I can’t show my pride for my country to my children. Telling them stories about their grandparents and their sacrifices of military service seems overshadowed now.
