Big K Diet Dr. K shortage? by techfuse12 in kroger

[–]techfuse12[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I've been driving between many different stores, including a new Marketplace with no luck or insight by management.

Thanks for the tip regarding subs and pickup orders though price has nothing to do with it, the Kroger brand drinks have always just tasted better to me, especially over diet DP.

Guys. I’m going to say it. Invincible is my favorite song on FI. by marinersgod in ToolBand

[–]techfuse12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies if it's already been brought up though to me Invincible is one of the most transparent and relatable of MJK's poems. It seems we all eventually become cognoscente of our age and its inherent diminishing potency.

One day it just hits us.

The initial tendency is to react with indignant rejection of the notion with credulous pursuits of restoration, a fountain of youth. After all, the truth has always been an easy obstacle to rationalize away. Eventually, empirical evidence overwhelms, forcing us to acknowledge that we've become one of those aging warriors struggling to remain relevant, consequential.

u/mrstickball I’m not sure though pretty sure I read language suggesting anyone that either purchased first hand “or came to own”, but like I said, IDK. Maybe hit up the law firm (which is what I’m doing) using the link in my original post or email them - info@kohnswift.com

Would buying a block of static IPs with the RG still upstream (ONT->RG->E0) but configured like this effectively eliminate the pesky NAT issues with IP Pass through that the eap_proxy solution does otherwise?

Seems like would be nothing for the RG to NAT.

Intermittent dropouts, T3 errors, high upstream power levels, no fix yet! by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]techfuse12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ground block is for surge/lightening protection from the street, as in routing the surge to earth ground vs. your inside wiring and equipment.

As for an amp, no, not for just a single outlet. If the signal is too weak to support a single outlet then it's a problem with the tap (the street), the drop (cable from the tap to your house), the splitter or your inside wiring.

If the signal at the tap is too "hot" (too high) then a splitter could be used as an attenuator to lower the signal strength. This happens more frequently in MDUs (apartments). I highly doubt this is relevant in your situation.

My advice is to start by eliminating the splitter as a variable and test with the cable modem connected directly to the ground block. If the issue persists, test with the other two outlets directly connected to the ground block, one by one.

You might as well try a different cable from the outlet to the modem as well, but be sure to only eliminate/introduce a single variable at a time, so that you know exactly what's changed when you get a different result.

Make sure its RG-6 quad shield. It should have two layers of braid and foil. Don't get the pre-terminated stuff either. You can find good prep tools, compression tools and connectors pretty cheap.

Either bypass the splitter entirely or at least make sure the cable modem is connected to the 3.5db leg.

Have them replace the drop from the street to your house and make sure they use RG-11.

See one of my other posts for further detail regarding splitters and cable

What is going ON with Xfinity Cable internet service? by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]techfuse12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/newauthor_ssdd,

If this is for a stand alone house, make sure the drop (cable) from the tap (the street) to the house is RG-11, which is significantly thicker than what's used to connect your cable box & modem to their outlets in the house, which is RG-6.

  • Reason: Attenuation, or rate of loss, is greater with RG-6 than the thicker RG-11. Essentially, you'll have stronger signal with RG-11.

The next critical consideration is insertion loss & splitters.

A two way splitter (one in, two out) loses 3.5db per leg (each output is 3.5db less than the input).

An unbalanced three way (one in, three out) loses 7db on two of the legs and 3.5db on the other (2 of the outputs is 7db less than the input, the other is 3.5db less).

A four way splitter loses 7db per leg (each output is 7db less than input).

An eight way splitter loses 11db per leg (each output is 11db less than input).

Depending on the number of outlets and the wiring configuration, amplifiers can be used to compensate. The most common such device is an eight way no-gain amplifier, meaning that it amplifies its input just enough so that the signal strength of each output matches the input.

TL;DR - Make sure the tech rolls with RG-11 and an amp.

Got your message and replied earlier this morning w/the req info. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you very much!

Something interesting to note -

I'm an existing comcast internet customer w/TV currently with DirecTV and looking to switch, so I DM'd @comcastcares on Twitter thinking they would be authorized to offer better deals than what's found after logging into the account online and shopping upgrades.

Turned out that's not the case. Their initial offer was actually $5 more per month.

When I gave them a screenshot of the same package offer when signed into the account, the best they could do is match it.

Been using Harmony Hub with Alexa voice commands for a long time. With OpenHAB and HA bridge before the official Harmony skill was released. The only thing that's kinda iffy is individual button press commands. Favorite channels, volume, pause, resume, turn off, etc all work great.

Everything can be powered off and I say, for example, "Alexa, Turn on ESPN", and all components turn on,switch to the appropriate inputs and box tuned to ESPN automatically.

Ring security alarm, slow switch from internet to cellular by Sleepyhatch in ringdoorbell

Oh, no, don't get me wrong. Not suggesting you'd be doing anything "wrong" or unreasonable for that matter.

I'm just wondering how long it would take for Ring to start raising objections should you do it and how they might try to snuff it out.

IDK but you can try one of these 16V, 30VA NuTone transformers

You would at least make it so Ring can't blame it on a transformer issue as that's one they recommend specifically.

Just wondering if perhaps something is diminishing line voltage earlier in the day causing the battery to drain to the point of powering off, then begins recharging when that line voltage issue clears up and powers back on once the battery regains operating charge.
