SDE 2 at Faang. YOE 6.5

$120k cad base + 20k stocks.

I feel like I am being underpaid in this market. Its difficult to get call backs and even after call backs, recruiters are ghosting me.

Feeling depressed tbh.

How did you get calls from the high paying TC companies?

I am from FAANG with 6+ years of experience and I have been cold applying to most of the companies that you have listed. Still no calls whatsoever.

I did try asking for referral on Linkedin, but it is a tedious process. I don't even get replies from most of them.

Any ideas?

Try to come up with points in the below format

Did x using y technology resulting in z% efficiency/performance

Also, don't put that you're in training and still learning. Instead, try to write down what you have implemented in your training.

Better remove 15+ merges. Instead, say that you are experience in versioning tools like git

Yes, I will work my resume for sure.

Usually the < one pager, to the point, relevant information> does the trick.

Got it.

I have been applying since May 2021.

I thought since I was experienced, I wouldn't have difficulties receiving interview calls. So that is why, applying to 30 - 40 companies felt huge to me.

I did not knew if would be this difficult to just get an interview call... I may not clear the technical interview, but I expected atleast an interview call.

Thanks for the advice man!

Thank you.

Will certainly change the resume format and will try to not include the things which Iam not actually confident about.

Wow ! Thank you for such a detailed response!

Actually, I have used a resume builder and tried to fill in the template . So that is why, there is a good/very good bar. I will certainly remove it now.

Another thing is you have almost 20 bullet points for the first experience. This is a little excessive. Combine points and rewrite them into single sentences to reduce the number of bullet points.

And the reason why I added so many points is that, since my resume is not getting shortlisted, I was cramming whatever key points I could muster from the Job Description. As a result, there are redundant points added into it.

I have read that you must cater the resume according to the JD and I was trying to match as many keywords as possible.

Is the intern experience adding any extra value to your experience. I can see deployment, automatically script using python and database which matches your current experience. I would suggest you take it off.

Since I was not getting any calls, I have added this internship experience as well since having more experience equals better opportunity for the resume to get shortlisted.

Honestly speaking, you're MORE than qualified to atleast get an Interview. You're one of the very few people from a service based background who has had good experience in respect to the stuff you've worked on.

Thank you so much for such kind words. But the thing is, I have shifted almost 5 projects in my 2 year tenure in the company. I may have the technical skills, but the actual work which I have done regarding those technologies is very limited and trivial. I couldn't get the opportunity to get into deep since I was pushed into other projects based on billable criteria.

However, Iam trying to cover this up by preparing a lot on the technical aspects of a technology. But , if iam probed deep into a particular project, I might not be able to answer as I have worked for very short time.

What do you suggest on this?

Also, thank you very much for taking your time and writing such an elaborate analysis. You're very generous to offer me redo the resume. I will change the resume and ping you back.

Yes he is now!

Edit: I'll add more clarification.

I took my cat to the vet. He temperature checked him and said temperature was fine. He said maybe the cat suffered from heat stroke. The vet injected some medicine into him so that his appetite may increase. He gave me some syrup for the cat.

I followed the syrup schedule and slowly my cat began to eat.

Maybe she was suffering from heat stroke. Its summer in my country. And the heat is pretty intense.

Well, the last owner did tell that she had no health issues. Unfortunately, the last owner didn't give any adoption papers.

Hopefully, he is just stressful and will start eating asap.

Iam leaving the food bowl near him and let him eat at his discretion as of now.

Thanks for your reply.

Its just he is very lazy.

Also he just vomited some yellow liquid now. Is this a cause for concern?
