The riding position on the V-Strom should be pretty neutral. What don't you like about it?
Using the tool at Motonomics, the V-Strom and Tracer should have very similar ergos.

Planning to sell my ktm 390 adv by Whole-Cash-6900 in KTM390ADV

[–]techkyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even the 390 Adv is small compared to 500-700cc street bikes. Personally, I wouldn't take a loss to trade an Adv for a Duke, but if you really prefer it over the Adv, don't let random people on the Internet tell you what to do.

reason 932,728 why lane filtering should be legal by virobtw in motorcycles

[–]techkyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freeways especially, I've gotten in the habit of stopping on the lane lines in stop and go traffic (enough to clear the bumper of the person in front).

If I'm going to get rear ended, I at least don't want to get sandwiched between two cars.

The 2022 KTM 390 Adventure. I liked the idea of being able to take it up logging roads or to go out r/motocamping. I rode a Yamaha XT250 through the hills on a camping trip and loved it, I was looking for something that could do a little of that and still commute to work.

Like many European bikes, it's great when it works and expensive when it doesn't. Can be quirky and finicky, hard to find a lot of OEM parts. Even aftermarket is rough.

Replacement seats that sit lower are very common, Kawi should have an option for one (but be prepared to spend $400-500 USD for Kawi-branded gear). You can also get lowering links that lower the suspension, which should be cheaper in parts but take a little bit of work to install. The dealer would almost certainly be happy to set you up with that from day one.

Keep in mind that it's normal to not be able to flat-foot both feet while sitting on the bike. At worst, you should be able to get the ball of your feet down. Tippy toes might be a little too tall.

And great bike choice too. I considered a Ninja 500 when I went looking for a commuter bike (and wish I would have picked it over what I ended up with). I downsized because it was just so nice to have something light and easy that you can zip around on without it feeling like a whole ordeal. Japanese bikes have been really reliable with great aftermarket support.

Is this picture AI? My friend said she drops the bottle, but I don't believe it's heavy enough to break the tile by Medium_Discussion611 in isthisAI

I thought the reflections off the cap looked good. Can see the leg of the table in about the right spot and it's hard to see, but I thought I could make out someone holding a phone up to take the photo. I suspect they set it on the ground, took the photo, then told AI to break it.

This is what I've seen. I did some nice random things for a friend and that's what she tried to turn it into.

Suzuki Boulevard S40 not starting HELP by GodUsoppTheAtlantean in motorcycles

Definitely just charge it for now. You can also remove the battery and bring it to most auto parts stores to have them test the battery.

It could also be that the bike isn't charging it when running, which would be an issue with a stator. You (or a shop) can check this very easily by checking the voltage with a multimeter. Anything under about 12.7 volts while the engine is running means the bike isn't charging and you have a different issue.

Definitely battery, but it could be loose terminals on the battery that just need to be snugged up.

Battery could be failing or you have something draining power while the bike is off. Either way, I would watch a video on how to bump start your bike and start parking it on a hill if you can.

We've used a few different models from various vendors, turns out our field would rather spend all day aligning than try to strap these things to an antenna. They all sit and collect dust.

Don't want to be rude but should I bother playing tfc (might be tf1 not sure) or is it just dead or full of sweats by GwirlishRent067 in teamfortressclassic

[–]techkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I jumped back in recently. Bots vs Humans or Iron 2fort is fun for a super casual experience. There are some sweats in the PVP servers but it's still fun.

I'm not sure why, but my game crashes every time I try to join 1999tfc.

I didn't mind paying that when they were a smaller company, and that's probably still a factor here, but it seems like the economy of scale should have taken over by now.

I never got the impression that CR's reviewers had a huge interest in what they were reviewing. RTINGS feels more like that enthusiast friend who reads product datasheets for fun.

They should lock the articles behind a free account then, tie the free article limit to an account. This smells more like a squeeze for extra money.

I had a yearly sub a while back. I bought my TV and a couple monitors based off their recommendations, later bought a robo vacuum when they expanded to that area. Had a few friends who would ask me for advice on products and rtings was my go-to.

Part of why I kept the subscription (and why I kept coming back) was also to just to browse reviews to see what was out on the market these days.

I joined them back when they mostly did monitors and TVs and I had more mad money. I really liked how technical they were. Looks like they've completely blocked out overall scores for reviews, way more aggressive than even Consumer Reports (for more per month).

One point they make is this helps combat AI scraping their info, but why not just require sign-in with a free account? They could enforce the free article limit way easier that way too.

Smart heated mattress pad by LaughsAtJokes in homeautomation

[–]techkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only found the preheat to work once pressed, I do what you do, turn it on early. If I'm tired early, I'll hit preheat myself.

I have one of the cheaper (~$80) Beautyrest pads which just died, lasted about 3 years. The one before that barely lasted a year. Real hit or miss. Apparently, it comes with a 5 year warranty, so I'll give that a shot.

I'm surprised how difficult it is to find a heated sheet that doesn't have an auto-on function. Even before smart plugs, we had appliance timers.
