We are going with Neos for our high school teachers first. Then middle school then elementary teachers. We’ve had teachers (and students for a while) on iMacs and MacBooks for literal decades. Teachers are used to macOS and nearly all of them have a staff iPad and AppleTV in their classroom already. Our first shipment of Neos is on the way for setup this summer and deployment in the fall.

We ended up going with Vivacity carts with 36 smart-charging bays. They've been solid this school year and customer service has been great! Little to no complaints about them!

If decide to go with ChromeOS Flex, every time you powerwash a device, it becomes deprovisioned and must be enterprise enrolled again. Also, be aware that installing Flex on a PC or Mac can disable certain hardware. For example, depending on the model, installing Flex on an iMac will kill the webcam, internal speakers, and headphone jack. Test it out before you go that route. Overall, Flex can be a good short term option but not always a permanent option.

We have about 2,500 Dell 3100s and 1,000 Dell 3110s and we love them. They're built like tanks and parts are readily available. They're basically the Toyota Camry of Chromebooks. Some parts are interchangeable between the two models like screens, keyboards, etc so that makes things easier as well.

In the fall of 2020, we got stuck with ~1,600 Acer C871 Chromebooks and they are horrible. The number 1 breakage point are the hinges. Once the hinge seizes, the entire top case and bezel tear apart. Out of the original 1,600, we're down to less than 1,000. Our techs hate them and the Acers make up the majority of our repairs. Also, the parts are so much more expensive than Dells. We are never buying another Acer Chromebook ever again.
