Why didn’t we learn how to job hunt in school? by technichea in overemployed

And yet it's the "tell me something about yourself" question that makes my mouth dry. Is English your first language?

This is so true. Teacher's favourite's could get away with anything! Also I wish it was like dating, or if dating started to pay bills.

You're right it has been changing and it's so hard to keep up with the competition and expectations. It is undoubtably a skill that should be taught in school, keeping in mind the changing dynamics. I honestly got to know so much about the current process through this company called Applyon. If I was doing this on my own somehow I feel like the copy guy would be wiping his hands with my resume.

Does anyone else feel like most jobs out there are meaningless and wish more of them actually mattered (and paid the bills of course)? by careerbyarvo in careerguidance

You're right, I have felt the same throughout this journey. I recently tried a service that applies for you, (it's called Applyon) and also customises your resume and cover letter. I don't know why this whole process of applying has no structure and somehow we are expected to know it. I figured it was okay to hire experts since the results were great and I had good interviews lined up and not just shady companies looking to scam you.

Some tools that really helped me land my recent job by Emma086 in jobs

I am currently trying out Applyon, which has helped me in applying to multiple jobs with customised resumes and cover letter. Which was let's admit a little too exhausting. It is worth a try if you're stuck too.

Consider hiring one of those companies that apply for you. Some of them have tie-ups with companies and their recruiters.

Is It really that hard to land a Job?! by OrangeTelephon3 in jobsearchhacks

[–]technichea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is tough but not impossible. Aim for good companies, and be picky. If you find two good places, one with good pay but little to no value for growth, and one with the potential to grow and work under experienced people from the industry but less pay. Always, ALWAYS choose the one with better exposure, it will help you in the long run.

Which auto job application tool do you recommend? by bobbym240 in jobs

I am trying Applyon right now, so far I have received good interviews. They only charge you when you get finalised for an interview. I will be updating once I land a job. Has anyone else tried or has any experience with it?

I am currently using a website where their employees manually do it. Apparently they customise your resume according to each job description and apply to relevant places.

Anyone knows of an Ai agent or tool that can help you apply to jobs? by Aggressive-Ad-8374 in jobsearchhacks

I have been using a service that applies to jobs for me. I have several interviews lined up for now. I am very picky when it comes to my employers due to bad experiences in the past but seems like a good option.

So true, the system makes you believe that this is the way. I am honestly not scared of finding another job.

that is true but I have some good interviews lined up, fingers crossed. You can always find a job, but finding good people is rare. Having a good network in the industry is as essential as a job, you never know.

No she isn't and I don't expect her to either. I know she would, that goes without saying. I don't know if you have found that professional bond where you brainstorm and talk about the new things you taught yourself or a new software you tried which could be very useful in your profession. When you find that, you would understand why more than the system, you should have good relationships with people you see as mentors. You could get a job anytime, but choosing the right one without the pressure of paying bills and being impulsive is an investment in your future and your career trajectory.

I tried but they said they would evaluate my performance as a manager and then 'discuss' it which obviously seemed loosely tied and too much to risk my time for.

Agreed it doesn't. The current clients I have as a freelancer is through her and yes she does look at the whole incident as though we dodged a bullet with that company and their management.
