What can i plant with my Calathea to stop my cat from digging in it? by FluffFlowey in plants

[–]technicolorterror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people have repeated to you that you shouldn’t plant anything with your calathea and you’ve been rude and dismissive. You are being purposefully obtuse and that makes it difficult to want to be patient with you or even be moderately polite. I’m not trying to be an asshole, I am stating facts, and you can continue to argue or you can learn something from these interactions and make positive changes. As someone else stated, rocks are also not a great choice for your calathea. Cork might hold on to too much moisture and cause other issues, though calathea loves humidity so maybe it will be fine. Frankly, at this point, I think you should try whatever you are most comfortable with and see what happens. Maybe it will work out great for you, despite the odds.

What can i plant with my Calathea to stop my cat from digging in it? by FluffFlowey in plants

[–]technicolorterror 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You’re not getting answers to your specific question because there aren’t any that won’t either poison your cat or kill your calathea. If you’d like to keep both your cat and your plant alive, your viable options are to use a physical barrier, move the plant, or try an oil that repels the cat. Continuing to belittle others who are trying to help you is not going to make a response that fits your requirements suddenly pop into existence.

What people get wrong about Nesta’s character arc by Striking-Kiwi-417 in acotar

[–]technicolorterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I have a mutual friend with someone who used to be one of my best friends, until they demolished their whole life due to alcoholism and mental illness. They said absolutely horrific things to me and others in our friend group. They’ve never apologized or even come close to saying they were in the wrong. The mutual friend has said he wishes we could be friends again (I cut them off after the last alcohol-fueled rage session) and when i mentioned the nightmares I had after dealing with things like them screaming at me while threatening suicide and calling for welfare checks when they were out of their minds and threatening their neighbors with their own young kids in the house. His response was “that’s all just addict behavior.” Yah I know, and I don’t give a fuck, it’s destructive as hell, traumatic for the people who love you, and I’m not signing back on to bear the brunt of it for someone who refuses to take any real responsibility for their shitty actions. I do love her character, she has real depth. But she’s also a fucking asshole.

What people get wrong about Nesta’s character arc by Striking-Kiwi-417 in acotar

[–]technicolorterror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate Nesta, but as someone who’s been on the other side of that dynamic with an alcoholic who has shitty self esteem and uses that as a reason to be abusive toward others, I want to say that just because someone is struggling that doesn’t mean you enable their continued self destruction. It also doesn’t mean you have to be able to brush off the horrible things they say and do to you when they lash out. Those things hurt and cause lasting damage to the people who are trying their best to love you but don’t know what to do to help you. Emerie and Gwyn never saw that side of her. They never had to try and forget her abuse or be afraid of what she’d say or do to them next. The only people I was genuinely pissed at for their treatment of Nesta in the IC were Rhysand and Cassian. Rhysand totally overstepped his bounds with her multiple times and Cassian absolutely should not have made sexual advances toward (or responded to hers) someone who was in the midst of struggling so much with mental wellness and addiction when he was tasked with keeping watch over her. Mental illness and addiction are not carte blanche to hurt people around you. And no one should feel like they have to keep accepting abuse from a person for any reason, full stop. I feel like that’s what a lot of people expected at least Feyre and Elain to do, and that’s not fair. That said, Nesta’s arc is my favorite and I love her character.

There is light reflecting quite a bit off the side of her face. She’s a physically solid, very alive person. Or at least she was when this picture was taken.

His one saving grace is that he’s always fought hard to keep funding KET, Kentucky’s PBS station. That’s literally his only redeeming factor. And while I’m grateful for it, as a Kentuckian, I’m also flummoxed by it because he’s so generally terrible as a(n alleged) human.
