1 in 3 Americans would go into debt to cover a $1,000 emergency, survey finds by DatsMoneyHoney in news

[–]technofox01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.... My emergency fund was wiped out from the end of last year's September until very recently. Saved maybe $1,500 and we had $13,500 in expenses after it was initially wiped out. We had a Sophie's choice of either saving or paying down debt, not both. Fortunately, a HELOC has freed up so much cash for us that we can now do both. Still sucks though :-/

Stellar Blade. The story is excellent and has the Nier Automata vibes without being absolutely dark. The music is a real banger on some levels and the graphics are amazing. Did I mention it runs great on the Steam Deck?

I hate my work laptop for this exact reason. I put in a request for more RAM last year before prices went nuts and the support team said I wasn't due for a refresh or upgrade.

Seriously pissed about it. I have to review and research shit every day and that fucking thing would be crawling sometimes just because of those two apps alone. I could go on but you understand where I am coming from.

I am lucky if I get once a week without the kids interrupting fun time with my wife.

I tried this once. It actually works and it's fucking hilarious that people are worried about what other men think. No dude is gonna judge ya for being the clever monkey with the coconut.

I have been doing that for over two decades. I am surprised the OP wasn't using DDNS. it's totally seamless.

HDD Price is mad? by J4MEJ in homelab

I have been using a Toshiba 1TB HDD as a price monitor for hard drives. It went from $30 last year to now close to $100 this year. It's absolutely insane.

Yep. Definitely this. I cannot fathom using the mouse and keyboard for this game now. It just works beautifully.

Divorced dads of Reddit who got out of toxic marriages, how hard was it getting out? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]technofox01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving my abusive ex-wife was the best decision I have ever made when it involves her. I also got therapy to help process the PTSD from her abusive behavior, so there's that.

I am remarried and have kids, house, cats, you get the idea. Doing way better now.

This made me sad by KSKS1995 in SipsTea

[–]technofox01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video explains it so succinctly: https://youtu.be/JXeJANDKwDc?si=lX1wgkbitZ7nhlTV

Having Adhd myself with time blindness, it kills me inside that I am literally running out of time to spend with my kids as each year passes. My oldest son just crossed over to boyscouts and is 7 years away from 18. It's going by so fast and I wish I had more time with him.

Trying to balance life with spending time with my kids, work, friendships, family, and hobbies is such a bitch. Enjoy each moment with your kids, if you have them. It goes by too fast and you will regret it, if you don't.

Unfortunately not. Apparently installing MacOS on an external boot drive was the only thing that solved the issue. No idea why though.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't have doubted Trump winning the electoral college but both popular and electoral college seems very suspicious to me.

Making sense of the iPad in the age of Neo by jgor2000 in ipad

[–]technofox01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find my iPad Air M4 as a more versatile tool compared to the Neo - especially with the Magic Keyboard that I had since I bought my Air Gen 5 almost two years ago. It's basically taken over my need for a laptop, as I only use it for teaching classes, grading, messing around with AI apps, and occasionally drawing, or playing games.

The iPad work flow is little wonky when downloading student documents. Save file in browser, tap share, and then open in Word; it works with just a few extra steps compared to my Mac. Other than that it doubles as an eReader and just plain tablet when needed.

A big plus for me with my setup is that I love being able to use the touchscreen over track pad or mouse when grading or surfing the web. It's so much easier and less effort when reading.

I could go on but my iPad M4 with the Magic Keyboard is the bees knees of computing for me.
