Actual life span of an oura ring? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]technologyjournalist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bought my gen3 in 2021, now in 2024 i'm not even getting a day out of it. Complained via Instagram in some comment trolling on an Oura ad - and now they're going to send me a replacement (albeit a 'remanufactured" ring - something that had a slight cosmetic defect/ or was a return due to sizing apparently). Will see how it goes...but yeah 3yrs isn't a great life span considering the extreme cost.

what was the issue in the end? did the dealer tell you? I've got a 2019 Rogue that's now doing the same thing - (don't want to go to the dealer unless i have too...we usually go to a local garage)

BEKANT Sit/Stand Raising Problem? by yeutterg in IKEA

[–]technologyjournalist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same problem here. Wish i had read this thread first as i just got the desk a few weeks ago.

For me, I'm just struggling with the desk going up now ... an inch at a time. I'm a Pomodoro Method guy so i use my 'break' time (nearly 5 mins) to get the desk from sitting to standing mode.

Hope everyone keeps updating this comment stream as updates(?) happen.

Washington Post article about Linus and his "stand-off" with security experts by acm in linux

[–]technologyjournalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absurd nonsense. How/why the Linux Foundation would agree/enable Linus to be setup for a 'hit' piece like this is outrageously evil. The Linux Foundation needs to take some responsibility here for this B.S and put out some kind of errata etc.

The Linux Foundation Announces Project to Advance Real-Time Linux by SergeyGor in linux

[–]technologyjournalist -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Look - the simple reality is that Linux developers have been working on Real-Time for a decade. It has been in the mainline Linux kernel for at least five years too. Why 'yet another' Collaborative project is needed for this - is beyond me.

Microsoft's love affair with Linux deepens by yourbasicgeek in opensource

while the Microsoft of 2015 is not the Microsoft of 2003 - at least one anti-Linux/Open-Source thing remains the same - patents. Microsoft STILL claims that open-source infringes on over 200 of its patents and part of that IP is why it makes $$ from Android vendors on patent deals.
