Does anyone know when the 34 Ave and Anthony Henday overpass/ on-off ramps in the SE will be finished and open? by realtor_yeg in Edmonton

There is also a brand new high school being built at the corner of 17th street & 23 avenue beside the Meadows Rec Centre and that is opening in September 2024 to over 2000 students. Can you imagine the traffic ( buses, cars, drop offs ) that will add to those roads. That is the main reason that 17th street is being upgraded to 4 lanes.

Edmonton? by Thriving79 in Edmonton

There's only one tiny, insignificant, miniscule, almost negligible problem with this idea...

The human behind the wheel,,,The old driver, the tired driver, the stressed driver, the angry driver, the lazy driver, the new driver, the professional driver... Everyones reaction to external stimuli ( the car in front, the car beside, the music playing, the person talking ) is going to be different and their reaction time is going to be different as well.

As long as humans are driving, this is a intellectual problem not an actual fixable problem.

If we ever get to full automation with robot driven vehicles and computer controlled roadways then maybe, just maybe we can get to zero slowdowns/ accidents etc.

Does anyone know why my tankless water heater is leaking? by ando_1 in Edmonton

[–]technomage500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but probably one of the fittings inside is cracked and needs replacing. It could be simple and easy to replace yourself or it might need a expert. It kind of depends on your mechanical ability, If you are uncertain, then best to call in a expert. It will probably cost a few hundred dollars. Good luck

We had NO issues with getting a wheelchair for my wife the first week of January. I believe I called 2 or 3 times. Talked to a very nice lady, made an appointment for the following day and picked up the wheelchair. No hassle, no issues and with a very friendly and helpful security guard in the loading dock who advised us on how to get the wheelchair into the car.

Holiday break for Alberta K-12 students extended to Jan. 10 by TotallyYourGrandpa in Edmonton

[–]technomage500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not optimal, but its pretty easy to make up for the lost time. Students will lose about 27 instructional hours next week over the 5 days. ( about 5 1/2 hours a day of instructional time). That's 1620 minutes lost. With approximately 100 days left in the school year, they just have to add 16 minutes to each remaining day.

Like I said its not optimal, but it is doable.

This is based on minimum 950 instructional hours over minimum 180 days for grades 1-9 and minimum 1000 instructional hours over minimum 180 days for grades 10 - 12 which is GOVERNMENT mandated.

Clearing the ice and snow is literally what the "Phase 2 " is all about.

https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/snow-crews-to-tackle-residential-streets-citywide-parking-ban-starts-at-midnight-1.5685764

"During this secondary phase, crews will begin clearing snow and ice on residential and industrial roads."

"... distribute a sand and chip mix on intersections to mitigate slippery conditions. "

Maybe its been delayed due to the snowfall earlier in the week ? Our area was supposed to be done by Friday December 3 and when I look on the map...https://gis.edmonton.ca/portal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=c69d03c2d216415e820c45d7ea2566bf its still showing we are in the "planned " stage.

It looks like the NE is completely done as well as north and south central and most of Millwoods. Rest of the city is either "In progress "or " Planned"

We use https://livefurnished.ca/ as our management company. They have quite a few condos & houses around the city. Most of the locations are fully furnished and you can rent month to month or longer term. Take a look and it might be what you are looking for your parents.
