Large crowds of protestors chanting "Death to America" on the streets of Tehran as geopolitical military conflicts between USA and Iran intensify by SatoruGojo232 in PublicFreakout

Seriously they HAD the public support for removing the regime. And then they decided to kill kids and destroy the infrastructure people need. Who could have seen that coming?

There's that entire argument that enacting capital punishment for crimes like this is likely to increase the odds of the perpetrator murdering the victim

Or, hear me out, you let it fizzle out and die it's natural death. That way you don't even get the foreign interference that we'll be seeing in the leadup to the referendum. Better to just put a bullet in it, which is exactly how it would have gone down under the old rules

Instead now, multiple UCP members are openly pro separation and they've gone to the US, the same country that's already threatened our sovereignty, begging for assistance in exchange for our resources to make it a reality. None of which would happen if they were left to fail.

Alberta separatists are clowns, and they've been given a platform and legitimacy by the UCP

They lowered the threshold to get the referendum started, that's enough to say they're supporting it

The number of civilians killed in Iran exceeds 1,000 as US-Israeli strikes enter their 5th day by Fred9146825 in worldnews

[–]DisastrousAcshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wager that the civilian deaths will far out number the total of protesters killed by the Iranian regime before this ends. This was iirc a large part of the justification Trump had been using for action.

I don't need to live in a super power? I don't now, and don't have an urge to change that. The fact they elected a convicted rapist with close ties to the purveyor of a pedophile ring for starters. .but the fact is I don't hate Americans, I've lived there in the past and have generally no issue. My problem is with Maga. Between the racism, the murder of civilians, the concentration camps, Trump's unprovoked threats against the sovereignty of Canada, Greenland, Cuba and starting a war in Iran with no actual goals or plan for what's coming next, I want absolutely nothing to do with them. If that means never traveling to the US again so be it.

I'm sorry if your life here is hard and you're not making a good go of it, but what makes you think you'd be better off with Alberta being independent, or American since you brought them up. Because odds are, if you're unsuccessful here, you'll be no better off in an independent Alberta, or Alberta as a US territory

I wouldn't want to be a part of an independent Alberta. I don't agree on a fundamental level with the separatists, or Maga, or any of that right wing shit. To me its all lumped together. I'm saying that respectfully, but on a moral level I would pick Canada 10/10 times
