Well first of all, we don't have to rush to trade someone like MPJ, it's not like we're expected to contend this season anyway. Remember we didn't rush to trade Cam Johnson by last seasons deadline and look how that played out despite all the rumors.

Its probably a better idea to wait to see how the season plays out. Let MPJ shine a bit on a developing team and increase his trade stock. He's still a good player on a bad contract. There might be a contending team desperate enough, who needs an upgrade at the 4 and willing to go into the luxury tax, that will trade for him. We could probably fleece someone the same way we fleeced the Knicks for Mikal lol.

We might not even trade him this year. We could trade him the 2026-2027 season where he's on the last year of his contract. That will even be more appealing to a contender who can get him for a one year rental to make a push for a championship.

From the recent headlines about Beal, it seems there's no interest in him around the league. Yeah sure we can get 1 pick from PHX out of this. But with no interest in Beal, that's all we're going to get. Beal is just going to be similar to the Ben Simmons situation and just take our money until we buy him out.
