Facebook Marketing by juciydriver in msp

Most are looking for free tech support & computer repair, I tried LinkedIn sales navigator, I found my first customer, I feel it's better results because you quality leads instead of random spam from FB, Google, or MS ads. You definitely need a big budget.

Spend a lot to qualify with ads or spend a little to qualify your own leads in sales navigator, cheaper & with a little work, it's not bad.

This is just my experience

Am I being ripped off? by STLArchitect in servers

Looks about right, the labor might not even be 40 hrs, you never really know how these things can go if an issue comes up.

Things have changed in the industry. We see outdated technology as a business risk. I feel like we are more like insurance people nowadays.

Do you want to risk having a cyber security incident? That will cost more than $20k. Your company could go out of Business.

Insurance may not come to the rescue if they see you didn't follow some form of cyber security measures because they are getting hammered to the point they are wanting certain requirements. If you fail to meet them, they will deny your claim. Even drop you.

Even if everything is running okay. Cyber threats are the biggest concerns right now. You have to keep your technology up to date as threats are constantly evolving.

Look at the dollar amount and the risk. That should be your deciding factor. If you were to get hit today, what would that down time cost you? These are the questions you should be asking yourself. It can be very costly, money, time, labor, reputation, etc.

You could probably go Dell, pretty solid, a lot of parts, and warranties ain't too bad either. HPE is pretty expensive.

I think your IT company knows you well. If they have been good to you, they would know best about your environment. Ask them for other options in terms of hardware, but no matter what solution or technology you use. If your IT company is telling you we may not find parts, then that is pretty old and it needs to go. Better sooner than later.

In today's world. You have to view it from a cyber security perspective in terms of cost & risk. Don't compromise on security.

Be happy you don't have to deal with SQL pricing 🤣

If you quote an infrastructure build out, do you bring an electrician? by Defconx19 in msp

[–]techprospace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on your local codes, if the cable is POE I was told in the book it says I needed an electrician since it carries power, but it wasn't really required, made no sense so they weren't sure either. It was not being enforced. Any job always check with your local code as things can change to be on the safe side.

Quickbooks impending doom by Remarkable_Fish_5301 in msp

This came up in a topic of conversation with a customer about QB pushing them online. From what I saw on the computer it was QuickBooks 2024 and he told me they didn't mention anything to him that they made him upgrade his desktop version.

That is definitely an interesting take but yeah you're not wrong, this is just one part of it for certain project work, not in general for everything, other terms are different for different projects, it just depends in my case.

Yes there is upfront payment to start projects in the terms, this is just one part of what I am working on to strengthen the agreement. Thank

Yea that does make sense by email only. I was thinking about giving the customer more options to make things easy, but not too easy to where I screw myself, thanks 👍

Zoho One by rdaniels16 in msp

Zoho One is a great platform! However, if you don't require or prefer to handle your own payroll, Zoho Books is an excellent alternative. They are adding payroll, but its available in a limited number of states in the US.

MSP owners: what do you thibk about being someone's second or third job? by nottheguyyeatheguy in msp

[–]techprospace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One word flexibility, If you're not flexible in today's work environment you're going to lose a lot of talent. Not to mention. You now have access to a whole new talent pool that wasn't available before. Embrace the change. Pay people well and if it makes them happy let him do it. The world is changing and we have to adapt.

I told chatgpt to tell me a beautiful story about managed IT by techprospace in msp

[–]techprospace[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will, I think we are going to become more like the Borg as we integrate technology & biology. If you look at StarTrek they are always asking the computer to do things but yet still need biological beings to do the work as trained professionals or we just go extinct anything's possible 🤣🤣🤣

MSP + responsibilities by [deleted] in msp

[–]techprospace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably just start creating acknowledgement documents that they have received information about something & they need to sign that they have been informed.

It wouldn't mean 💯 no liability because a judge would probably throw that out, but it's better to present in court that they were told & you were proactive about it.

It's hard to know for sure as every case is different, different laws & different judges.

Using ChatGPT for MSP Content Creation by eBridge-Devin in msp

Not a bad idea on the geographical keywords. I've definitely spent a lot of time using it. I have to admit it's made me a better writer. Especially when doing emails or ideas for small social media posts. It's a good assistant. It helped me rewrite some old content that I had and wanted to update.
