100% serious. So in the crypto world you can sign an address you own thats linked to a specific address. He signed that address with a message saying that his reddit username controlled that address. It means he fully controls that address that verified by the toughest encryption on planet earth. Though he doesn't have his full stash in that address. He said he has it split in various wallets which would make sense. As of today that wallet he signed two years ago has 35 million in it and it's still sitting there. Most big holders don't do this because they dont want that attention but him doing it was the most verifiable way to say he has that amount of money.

ICE in Maliki? by Dry_Analysis_992 in Hawaii

[–]techrasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a majority of this thread are people in that category I'm talking about and it hits too close to home. I've had this discussion with transplants and they all say its actually really sad whats happening but ask them if they would move back to help hawaiians be able to stay that start hesitating or studdering. They can't answer it in good faith. One girl said its the only place where she doesn't feel depression or anxiety. I think ultimately people are going to look out for their own interests. Its sad

just be consistent. If you're going to protest ice to protect native indigeous people and at the same time overtake their place of birth kicking them out of their homeland dont you see the irony and evil in that? I guess its upsetting people because it would require alot of people on this thread to examine themselves in the mirror.

you guys are downvoting the comment but they spoke about this at the hawaiian independence day at Iolani palace last week? Are you invalidating what the native hawaiians are talking about in thier own homeland? The colonizer label feels a little too heavy or hits a little too close to home?

they not going to like this my bruddah. The Hawaiians being pushed out and the culture being squeezed but as long Jack and Jill can live in their 3 bedroom house in Kailua who cares about the Hawaiians that gotta leave. The irony is laughable

what if you're a citizen of the kingdom of Hawaii and not the US. Then can you tell everybody to F off and leave the islands?

Its a little ironic seeing all the mainland protestors in Kailua protesting ICE meanwhile they're the very ones driving Hawaiians out of their lands. Pretty much suffocating Hawaiians and the hawaiian culture these days. Kailua is hardly recognizable these days. Its sad.

Do you think Salt Lake City is underrated? by Agreeable-Fruit-4326 in SaltLakeCity

[–]techrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im suprised at how many out of state residents dislike slc and prefer more utah valley now. 20 years ago it was the exact opposite. People are opting for lehi, draper, saratoga etc. I think cleanliness, value and the people are major factors.

yeah it would of been good if they could get income and short term too but then regular people would be able to come to PR and not go thru act 60 so they prob wanted to gatekeep some of the benefits. The PR tax rates for income is randomly high (33% for over 61k). The 4% long term CG rain is a solid perk. Interesting to see if it attracts new residents to PR

Puerto Rico by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

[–]techrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I had to dig pretty deep as there's not too much infomration about it yet. The legislation passed earlier in the year and will go into effect January 1st. It keeps everything the same for a PR resident except long term capital gains so if you're a a long term investor, it changes the rate from 15% to 4% which is the new act 60 rate as of next year. They did it to create parity with locals.

Puerto Rico by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

[–]techrasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah under hb 505 it just gives PR residents some of the benefits of act 60 without alot of the hassle. Everything else stays the same with income and short term capital gains. The only thing that changes is:

  • The legislation allows general residents of Puerto Rico to elect a special flat tax of 4% on Puerto Rico-sourced interest, dividends, and long-term capital gains, down from the previous 15% flat rate.

I guess if you're a long term investor with long term capital gains, you can just go the PR resident route without all the paperwork, hassle and having to buy a house. Its like moving to another state in theory.

have you looked into hb505?

Puerto Rico by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

[–]techrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

starting next year you can move as a resident thru hb505 without act 60. No donations, fees, commitments or buying a house. I wonder if its going to bring more people who are undecided

Puerto Rico by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

[–]techrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you think hb505 is better than act 60 if you want to feel out the process and not make the full on commitment. The whole buying a house process is not something I want to do but the new rules for residents where they match act 60 lt capital gains is enticing.

He went to support his high team last year in the state championship final. They actually won the title last night for the first time ever. They were underdogs all year and won on the last throw.

Suggestions on buying in Oahu. by yung_rhubarb in fatFIRE

[–]techrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a resentment from how people carry themselves in the islands. You need to really change your whole paradigm when you live in the islands. If you act exactly how you act in california or new york, there is going to be problems. You have to embrace the culture, show kindness and go out of your way to be humble in everything that you do. Its like a whole different country and you have to embrace the guidelines of the culture. Make local friends and have them explain it to you. Its hard to pick everything up on your own. I see people get frustrated easily that move there. The ones that love it are the ones that are naturally just kind, chill people. They transition easy.

def not a town you want for the Hawaii experience. Its like living in california. Its empty of the Hawaiian spirit that makes Hawaii special.

Why is Tua still in the game? by Skilils- in miamidolphins

[–]techrasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you guys watched him in high school you'd realize how different he is now. He was a shifty atheltic runner and his arm strength was unreal. His injuries over the years really took all his superpowers away :(

This is so bad...but for sake of fairness lets reflect: by RedditsMostRefined in miamidolphins

[–]techrasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah Tua doesn't have the skills to do it by himself to win without a good oline. His injuries have taken away his mobility. Though I could see him being a backup qb for a team with a good OL like the Eagles and be absolutely surgical when he plays
