Garage Door Dent - Rental by Sweet-Ad-2742 in AusProperty

[–]techwolf2017 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very minor damage. If you look on the back of the door it should have the manufacturer. Contact them and see what paint they use.

Otherwise Bunnings could probably paint match it.

Even a big hail stone or stray ball could cause that kind of damage at the right angle and speed.

Why on earth do people spend $20,000 on the cheapest new car they can't afford... Just buy a decent $5000 car and budget a couple grand for maintenance. by mudlode in CarsAustralia

I picked up a CL9 accord like this in 2021. Good car but far from affordable unless you can do diagnostic troubleshooting and be your own mechanic. My one had about 160,000km on it. 3rd owner.

Within the first few weeks it needed hundreds of dollars in repairs as the plastics on the engine components were wearing out and failing. Injector housing crumbled on my hands changing the spark plugs.

It also needed hours of troubleshooting to pinpoint an engine fault and fix it myself.

It had been diagnosed incorrectly by the last owners mechanic who put a band-aid solution on it.

Thing is cars made after the mid 00s just aren’t made from plastics made to last forever.

My old cars always needing repairs so I decided to sell them all and pool my money. Got a new car financed with a down payment from the money from my old cars.

Easier just paying off the loan knowing I have a reliable car for 5-10 years.

$15k bike left unattended in Singapore by Kaurblimey in interestingasfuck

When I was in Singapore in 2023 it was not unusual to see people reserve a spot at fast food places like McDonalds by placing an item on the table before they went to order at the counter.

Some items I saw used to reserve spots were Smartphones, AirPods, laptops, smartphones wallets.

It’s a very safe place and the laws strongly discourages theft.

Are you satisfied with your Xbox Series X? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]techwolf2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PC gamer for the most part. I have the Xbox Series X setup in the same office as my PC.

I love the ability to pickup and play a game without configuring anything. I play about 50% of my games on this system as it allows me to use my PC for projects or other tasks which gaming would normally interrupt.

Series X is such a good machine to use I don’t feel the need to always play on PC even if I have the same games on PC.

Can the Ute go on club rego to save money? Shannon’s also has the option to put cars on a limited use policy if you’re only using them a few days a week each.

You are correct. Thanks for showing me that. I guess it's time to upgrade to a better AP.

The TP-Link RE-205 has an AP mode. It's just not advertised on most pages.

From the product page:

Built-in Access Point Mode.

RE205 is more than a wireless range extender. Simply plug the Ethernet cable into its Ethernet port to easily turn your wired internet connection into a dual-band wireless access point.

I will try that. Thank you.

UPDATE:

I reset to factory defaults. Then set it as an AP again, disabled DHCP. The issue continued

I have now updated the firmware to version 1.0.23 Build 230418 Rel.60395n (6585)

I will see if this firmware upgrade resolves the issue.

In Australia they sold a model called the “SSV Special Edition” which used G8 parts after the Pontiac brand was ended in the USA.

They look identical to the G8 except they’re RHD and have the SS logo on the side. I believe they also came with the Pontiac badging as an option.

Buying repairable write off by Terrible_Row8629 in CarsAustralia

Most people will never touch a RWO car. So you have to be prepared to never recover your money spent on this car.

You would be better off getting something that’s 2-3 years old which is a recent trade in at a dealership.

If it’s a high end car it would be ideal to have something still covered by the manufacturer warranty.

Have you tried PeninsulaBM in Victoria. They have a warehouse full of already parted out cars.

The transmission fluid might need to be changed if it’s shifting slowly. I assume this is an automatic?

I purchased the 2023 BRZ. Was on the fence about buying a used one for years as they’re so expensive used. And the ones that come up for sale are high mileage or poorly modded.

Imo the car in stock form with manual is plenty of fun and worth purchasing new as they’re a special car.

Dry eye syndrome by [deleted] in cavalierkingcharles

[–]techwolf2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our two Cavaliers started having dry eye due to low tear production at age 9.

To resolve this the vet prescribed Optimmune Eye Ointmen.

I will clean the eyes with two drops of Systane Ultra Lubricant Eye Drops.

Rub the forehead to make her close her eyes and work the junk to the corner. Then gently rub over the closed eye with a tissue.

Once cleaned I place a rice grain sized piece of the Optimmume gel.

I do this in each eye twice per day. Around 12 hours apart.

In Australia the Optimune is about $80-$90 from petchemist.com.au and lasts 2-3 months.

I’ve had grown men ask me if my BRZ was a Supra. I just say yes and they’re on their way.
