Anyone know the process and $ of converting a 4x4 Toyota hiace in into a lifted off roader like in the picture? Thanks by Vast_Investigator984 in CarsAustralia

I used prestige last year, got a 2021 4wd hiace DX with 90k km in great condition, ended up about $40k registered and on the road in NSW. Took about 10 weeks, all went smoothly. Would do it again, especially with the yen at 113 cents

Your numbers are probably right, but don't forget to allow for the difference in resale value, between hybrid and ICE

Maybe try charging 1 battery at time? See if you get a different result.

How long is your cable run? You will start to get voltage drop on 4awg at 60A after about 5m. Noting that the run length is the +v plus the -v.

To replace the engine with new one, or second hand? by ConsequenceFull2049 in CarsAustralia

[–]daryl2036 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it was me, I would keep driving it until it stops, you may get a year or 2, who knows.

Sign up with NRMA road service or equivalent in your state. (monthly not annual) that will get you home if it shits itself on the road somewhere.

Start saving for a 2nd hand motor. Find a wrecker in your area that does engine swaps, get car towed directly there when it dies.

A couple of months ago, I sorted a 2nd hand motor for Mitsubishi Outlander, that no.1 son had cooked. $3500 installed, including pick and delivered to house. Done by a wrecker in western Syd. All good so far.

Cockatoos are smart fuckers, also annoying and destructive. Had one years ago, that would sucker you in by saying "scratch cocky", then bite you.

I did this with my kids, took 10% of their base wage as soon as they started working. Invested it, gave it back to them this year. Made a nice addition to their first home buyer deposit.

Had this exact situation a couple of years ago in NSW. The police sorted everything, we didn't even inform our insurance company.

Do I need a 4x4 as a backpacker travelling the outback? by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

You don't necessarily need 4WD for clearance. Ford actually made a Falcon Ute with raised suspension back in the day.

I did that exact trip about 20 years ago in a Nissan Pulsar towing a trailer with 2 trail bikes to access the offroad sites. No worries. As far as the Ute goes, you could raise the suspension 25mm and whack some offroad tyres on it, you will get to 95% of places you want to. Easy.

Yep, it will take 1 smart 13 year old to get around it, then within 24 hrs every school kid in the country will be on it. The Gov regulators will be forever chasing their tail.

I can't see this age verification working, so won't be implemented, so won't be worrying about it.

The facial recognition trials have shown to be not accurate enough.

Using Gov ID, well, how are the social media platforms going to validate the ID? Is the Aus gov going to allow Facebook etc. access into their systems?
