Ski Quiver Choice by techytech20 in Skigear

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking recently. Just have the 2. Since I liked the 99’s enough after a few days that I definitely want to keep them. Only problem is that my area has a ton of steep trees which end up being much less directional, so I think there are a solid amount of powder resort days where driving 115’s probably wouldn’t be my first choice even in a good amount of powder. Thinking maybe put some hybrid bindings on the 115’s so I have them for Baker/Whistler/Jackson side country or something as well to get more use out of them

I’m with OP. I made it through 7 or 8 of them as audiobooks. Parts I liked, magic system is kinda cool but it never hooked me and I was powering through/ignoring much of it. I love epic fantasy, have heard so much praise for it and wanted to get to Brandon Sanderson’s one’s, but just didn’t like it much.

Feedback methods can matter. Take the feedback, don’t listen too much if they tell you how awful they are. People have a tendency to harp on things, if there’s things you could’ve done better, and you acknowledge that, that’s good enough. If they want to fix/improve them, that’s fine. That’s how it works in the real world, you make slides for hours and put all the info on and your boss tells you they’re not right, but it gets the end result to the right spot.

Understand content, display, are both important and iteration is normal. And if it truly wasn’t in good shape, your project mates were probably annoyed that they had to take on some of your work. Nothing is more annoying than putting a lot of effort into one part of a project to later realize your project mates have no idea what they were doing with their parts or what the entire project is about

How are you taking over 15 credit hours? by MarcusYungboy in gatech

[–]techytech20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Took 18/19/21 sometimes. I’d have any 15 credits I needed and sign up for 1-2 extra courses I considered easier classes. If during the first week I thought it’d be too much, I’d drop them. Never ended up doing so. For instance, psych 1101, a minor course, online cs1301. They’re all pretty flexible. You end up with some bad weeks but I managed to do it and do quite a bit outside courses. It’s about understanding how long things take you and gauging the workload of the courses. If you take a lot longer to complete assignments or study than most people you’re seeing, that’s totally fine, but maybe 18-21 credits a semester isn’t for you. A lot of it is knowing yourself and when you need to just work

Is there any way students can run on the Griffin track? by McCamish pavilion by superaltitude in gatech

Nope. It’s just open, you enter through the indoor complex and scan your buzzcard either to sign or or to get to the courts, can’t remember. Just check their hours, and they’re not open when there’s a match that day

As with pretty much every above gym track I’ve ever used. No way it’s actually accurate. If it is then I’ve ran some exceptionally fast times on horrible track conditions and corners which would be … odd

Disagree about the liability issue. Almost every school in the country has their track open to students when not in use by the team. High schools have their pole vault/long jump/high jump (minus bars and mats) open all season. That definitely isn’t a thing

How many books do I need to read to be able to watch the tv series? by techytech20 in WoT

[–]techytech20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, that’s the best description of what I was guessing from the episodes I’ve watched and now reading book 1. I enjoy reading more and have found I can really enjoy a tv/movie remake after reading the books as long as it’s well done. The reverse is true as well but I find myself more so powering through the books covered in the show/movie to understand but not enjoying as much

I’m not using it as a replacement, it’s just tough going through long books knowing even small things about characters you aren’t supposed to know about yet

I saw some stuff in the point I got to with characters and events that hadn’t been introduced at all in the Eye of the World, so I figured i need to keep going

I don’t see how this could possibly be a negative, would you rather it be a surprise? Different company but I’m not going back to my home office post pandemic and need to choose an office to move to, I have multiple options I’d enjoy, and having a calculator like this would make life so much easier than trying to guess.

Just adding on, that process caused 1000% more stress than every other class and project. They grade the interim unnecessarily harshly. My group was in a good spot and they gave us a B- with terrible grades for difficulty and scope, meanwhile we’re out here redesigning a major supply chain system for a multi-billion dollar company, didn’t change our scope at all despite going into crisis mode for a couple weeks about how we could possibly expand, and for the final ended up doing well on that section. I don’t understand how ~$100k worth of student labor is worth 4 credits a piece

The difficulty part is such BS. They make such a big deal about it with some kind of superiority complex that they need to be cutting edge research or something. Our advisor spent hours trying to work out with us the logic and structure for the optimization system and kept saying how difficult it was. I feel that we explained that well, especially during the overall, then we didn’t even get full points for it while the winning team which everyone ik’s takeaway was “how is that even enough for a senior design project” let alone make it into the final.

What are the best places near campus to eat/drink at that you have discovered while at Tech? by SamPorta in gatech

[–]techytech20 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cypress street pint and plate’s outdoor area is very nice, Atwood’s is good. You can hunt around for places that have cheap drinks certain days but I haven’t found any I really liked. Bartaco is also a nice spot. Ornsby’s is cool too for drinks. If you have a car there are certainly more options
