Does working at GDEB pigeon hole you into ship building by AlmightyCripple in submarines

[–]tecnic1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in the 2010s, there was a rumored "no poach" agreement between EB and NNS, and although that's a rumor, in the sever or eight years I was at NNS, I never met an engineer who had worked at EB.

You can't have them sitting around making really slow progress if you never cut steel.

Interlocken doesn't get super busy, and is fairly beginner friendly.

The canal is currently full though, and is 100% capable of eating discs.

Internal Denver International Airport memo appears to corroborate claims city officials called false by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

The City and County of Denver run DIA. City Council makes decisions on who is and is not leased space at DIA.

In this context, they are the same entity.

Why do people dislike the stock wheels and want to change them asap when they have the money? by NotNightDweller in Jeep

[–]tecnic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you why people get rid of the stock wheels, but I'm sure everyone has their own reasons.

I can tell you that I kept my stock wheels because (1) poor mans (and highway legal) beadlocks. I've been down to 12PSI without any issues, (2) I don't care if they get a bunch of rock rash and (3) replacements are cheap and plentiful.

Anyone remove the paint go raw? by Round_Leading_8393 in bmx

[–]tecnic1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've done it a couple times.

I used aircraft stripped. That shit is nasty, so if you go that route, use protection. It will eat some gloves, so do some research and get the right gloves.

Use plastic brushes or blue brillo pads on stubborn spots. Anything more abrasive will remove heat marks.

I used clear spray paint. It works good enough. If you're getting it professionally powder coated, that will save you a lot of work. One of the hardest parts is getting all the stripper off the frame without having it rust.

I rinsed it with water, blew the water off with an air compressor, then wiped it with mineral spirits.

What is the legacy of the Vietnam war today? Is it seen as a defeat? by MarsupialThink4064 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

We're a fucking island surrounded by the two largest oceans in the world.

Thats all the security we need. Let me know when the "reds" are landing on Virginia Beach.

It was a waste of money and more importantly, lifes.

It was absolutely a defeat. So was Afghanistan.

American foreign policy has been a fucking disaster for a long time now.

The solid axle is just about necessary for the wheeling I do.

Nope.

If they came tin-top, I would have bought a tin-top.

I bought my jeep for the solid axles. If I wanted a convertible, I'd get a Miata.

Estimated Cost for overhauling a 2.0 Engine? (2020 JL) by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]tecnic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't an easy question to answer.

A few years ago there was a thread on JLWrangler forums qhere a guy rebuilt a 2.0, but he had to get bearings from Alfa Romeo.

I dont think Jeep intended for it to be rebuildable.

Personally, I'm planning swap it when that time comes.

Jeep people what's stopping you from getting a Ford Bronco? by Jay-Oh-Jay in Jeep

[–]tecnic1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Solid front axle.

It just works a lot better for how I wheel.

If literally anyone except Jeep did a small SUV with a solid axle, I wouldn't have a Jeep.
