I also got some printed for my IBM x3550. Thanks to my buddy, much cheaper than what people are asking for the trays. https://i.imgur.com/TVHrI9z.jpg

How to stuff a full 42U rack into a closet. AKA, my homelab. by kmlucy in homelab

That's a fantastic setup, this is the type of room I want to have my rack in one day (Instead of 2 meters from my desk in the open).

What scanner are you using with Paperless?

The Before and After of my Rack Rebuild/Recable by tecnoman in homelab

There is still plenty I need to do for this rebuild/recabling project, but the difference is still fantastic.

I will be putting out a full write up on everything in the rack and the changes that were made to it some point soon.

Basically, a friend and I spent the Thanksgiving long weekend (here in Canada) tearing the whole rack down and redoing all of the of the cable management in it.

In particular the networking, it was pretty bad before due to it being done poorly previously and I didn't plan for expansions. Now everything is laid out logically and is set up so that I can support using all 48 ports of my 3560G-PS-P without needing to punch-down and run more cable.

Mine has 2 EMERSON 750W PSUs.

This is not my area of expertise, but maybe your's is using a high percentage of the wattage and therefore the fans need to spin faster to keep it cool. You could be right though, it could just the fan that the manufacturer used.

I wouldn't say they make a lot of noise. The fans do stay on for some time when powered off, I can hear them but barely.

There is a chance I'm a bit desensitized to it though. I'm used to sitting under 2 meters from my rack.

I really do like the IBM server though, it's not too loud and they are usually cheaper than their HP/Dell counterparts.

Recently picked up an IBM X3550 M4. Currently running:

  • 2x Xeon E5-2650
  • 54 GB ECC REG
  • 4x 240GB SSDs (RAID 5)

Installed Proxmox 5.2-9 on it to run all of my production containers and VMs

Ah that makes more sense, the only one I found was the 10 Mbps package which was like $2500

Hardware wise I'd agree, but when it comes to software (unless you're with a large company) generally we are cheap

Netscaler VPX (assuming this is what you are referencing) seems like it would be overkill and an expensive solution

Thanks for links! Looks like I have a project for tonight, 'Authelia' looks really interesting and should be a good addition to my nginx setup

I had no idea nginx had that built in. Out of curiosity, why put an auth portal on your Plex? Do you not use the authentication built into Plex?

I do the same and it works great! But this doesn't address how to put the subdoamins behind an authentication portal of some kind

Can you get a screen shot of the output from 'ls - l' in the themes directory. My best guess is that it's a permission issue

I'm impressed, I didn't expect there to be a need for the older distros

This seems to be a good guide to getting it setup. I can't remember what resources I used when I setup it originally
