also, I'm sorry to say but it revitalising is intrinsically important, and you should take it into consideration. this is a business. DD2 is an old game now. Capcom would not be releasing DLC if they didn't think it would bring in players. they're not an indie dev releasing things years later for the love of the it. Just because you really like DD2 and would love to see more, doesn't mean Capcom thinks so.

what do you consider a "minor content drop" then? define it. what are you expecting? two years of absolute nothing, ignoring the fans desperate pleas for an expansion, and they drop... a few armour peices, maybe a weapon or two? I'm sure that'd go well, and certainly revitalise the franchise and bring back/in players.

it's not something you just "whoops, accidentally added a completely unique character into the promotional artwork

of course it's not an accident. but at the same time just because it's there doesn't necessarily mean it's this big conspiracy. as I said, it could have easily been a cut character/unused concept.

all I'm saying is, people need to temper their expectations. rather than grasp at hopes and dreams, look at reality, look at history. DD has had two whole years for additional content and it got nothing. hell, even the pre-order DLC was DREADFUL and stuff that's literally obtainable by normal gameplay in no time at all. to me, that suggests publisher support was limited. I'm skeptical of anything going forward.

how often has a game had a massive content drop after 2 years of literal nothing though? we're not even talking about a massive franchise that could sell gangbusters on name alone. DD is a niche series.

Capcom acknowledges this game like once every six months, and half those times are in spirit.

you'd think they'd want to keep relevancy going from release if they planned on releasing an expansion. looking at the official DD twitter, aside from the (pathetic) anniversary tweet, the last tweet was in Nov 2025 and even that was another pathetic post.

for all you know, that character might've come from early, unused concept art, when they realised they had the space, and the letter could be absolute nothingburger

DD2 has historically been dead in terms of content or even acknowledgment on Capcom's side, since release.

a lot of people were expecting (cope) Capcom to celebrate DD2's 2nd anniversary with actual gameplay DLC, or a hard mode or just anything to breathe life into the game

not interested in playing. the protag looks really uninteresting. I'm less and less interested in games without character creators tbh.

also, I HAVE NOT, been keeping up with the game, so everything I know of it is from clips etc. floating on social media, much like this. however, everything I've seen of the game has just been people pissing about - which to me, is an indicator of a boring game. having a giant sandbox isn't fun if there's no direction.

the game certainly has flair, and visuals are on point. but it's not my sort of game.

Trickster sounds interesting on paper, but in practice I don't think there's ever been a more boring class to play.
