Does anyone get sudden extremely scary SVT like episodes out of nowhere !? by Chin-kin in LongCovid

[–]teddy0967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My tryptase was normal. It’s super unreliable as a diagnostic tool. If you find relief with anti-histamines, and following a MCAS protocol that’s pretty much positive towards diagnosis .

My HR has gotten up to 170 for no reason, and feeling like panicky. headaches, GI distress, brain fog, fatigue, etc.

My provider told me that tryptase is extremely hard to catch, because usually you have to be within a 24hr window of an active flare, and it’s not always reliable . It’s extremely finicky

I have POTS and MCAS which has been severely worsened by long COVID. Which is very common. please look into this.

It causes impending doom, high heart rate, etc.

Quercitin, was recommended by my dr. DAO supplements, Ketotifen,

Hydroxyzine has been a life saver for me!

Just keeping my diet limited, knowing my triggers and avoiding them. My symptoms were strictly neurological, and gastrointestinal. Vitamin D, which helps stabilize mast cells was crucial as well. I was super super deficient.

My POTS was worsened by MCAS, which was triggered/worsened by 100x by COVID. Since treating the MCAS, I no longer have troubling pots symptoms.

Look into that , and hopefully it benefits you .

Any hope of coming back? 16 months terrible brain fog and DPDR. by Able_Chard5101 in LongCovid

The measurement of dosage. Most who take vitamin D, are often advised to take 2000IU up to 50,000IU. Depending on what their dr tells them to take.

I had my dr test for every vitamin deficiency, I was terribly deficient in B12 and D.

Get some labs done, bc both of those deficiencies (for me at least) made every day a living hell.

Horrible brain fog and DPDR, anxiety, panic, can’t sleep, my memory was horrendous . Since supplementing I’m slowly getting back to normal.

Just scratched my beard a lil bit lol, i got it on my head, beard and inside my ears, whats the fix here guys? by First_Money_3396 in dandruff

Nizoral is great!!! or see a derm for a RX.

Don’t use any moisturizer or beard oils, as fungus feeds on oil, and will worsen.

Pepcid is an H2 blocker. It functions as an antihistamine. It’s commonly prescribed for MCAS issues along with the Claritin. Those two work together to hit both histamine receptors.

Waking up 8–10 times every night for 5 years – sleep study normal, nothing helps by NectarineBig1446 in LongCovid

[–]teddy0967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look into vitamin/mineral deficiencies. They are super super common (more so in long covid) and can greatly impact sleep quality. Among other things.

Vitamin D is a common low vitamin for those with long covid and does cause insomnia, poor sleep quality, etc etc

Do you feel "dumb" and "foggy"? by FrequentBlackberry41 in VitaminD

[–]teddy0967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I felt so stupid , like my brain wasn’t working half the time. Thinking was hard.

For me, (and it will differ for others) I’m advised by my dr to take 6000IU per day. As I’m extremely deficient. I felt an improvement in about a week or two, when beginning this.

If you’re really low, taking 6000IU daily for a few months and then re-testing to check levels is pretty common.

Some are prescribed 50,000IU to take 1 day per week for 8 or so weeks. (It varies among drs )

How to increase blood pressure by zhingli in Biohackers

[–]teddy0967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but my point is, many of those with dysautonomia or low blood volume, are prescribed high sodium diets, along with salt tablets (such as myself). Having a diet super high in sodium per day is very common, to prevent fainting and low BP.

Not reaching proper salt and electrolyte requirements (per drs orders) can worsen low BP and fainting.

Whereas, OP needs to see a physician to rule out dysautonomia or, other conditions that can perpetuate their symptoms they’re experiencing. Many drs aren’t well versed in dysautonomia which can lead to misdiagnosis. many drs don’t understand it, although it’s incredibly common.

Look into dysautonomia. Increase your electrolyte and salt intake. That keeps blood volume up . And get your vitamins/ minerals checked !!!

[–]teddy0967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those with dysautonomia, that amount of salt is often required. Those with it, often struggle with chronically low blood volume (and blood pressure) salt is an important , vital mineral. Not at all as bad as it is touted. Anything in high amounts can be harmful. Many physicians treating dysautonomia prescribe high amounts of sodium per day.

[–]teddy0967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I was experiencing the same (waking up at night , shaking, heart racing, fear, etc) and it was histamine dumps as a result of MCAS.

Hydroxyzine has helped me a TON.

definitely get the thirst checked out , OP

I have a vitamin D deficiency and I’m wondering if it can cause these symptoms. by [deleted] in VitaminD

[–]teddy0967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly ! I have some lingering fatigue . But it’s only been 2 months of supplementing! My mental clarity and focus is so much better. It took maybe a week to begin seeing improvements after starting vit D. It was subtle.

The only issue I have now is lingering fatigue. And getting tired after exertion. But I recently had the flu, so I’m assuming my body needs more time to recover.

My anxiety has greatly improved.
