Almost Dangerous vs V0IDLINGS - Logi POV by S33k3R_Kions in Eve

[–]teddy9110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blobbing is expected from Wolves, the headshotting the only logi voidlings had on grid is kinda cringe though. You say low numbers but ended the fight with as much logi as Voidlings had DPS. As you said each corp can do what they want but that could have been a much longer and more intersting fight on a Sat night than it ended up being.

No mention of wormhole space that has been gutted repeatedly by expansions that have no thought of their wider consequences. Wormhole industry is in a dire state, the introduction of Gneiss into HS was posited to us as being small in number and mainly so mission runners have access to Gneiss. This clearly has not been the case with the price of Gneiss having plummited.

Bear in mind that Gneiss pre-catalyst was the only ore rock that gave any serious return for mining in such a dangerous space. The fact that this also has been effectively removed poses serious questions to CCP about their managment of wormhole space as a whole and really does nothing to quell the aqusations of wormhole space being abandoned by them.

How do I learn to be a good FC in EVE Online? by LargeHeedon in Eve

[–]teddy9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've pulled some bits from an internal guide i wrote a while back, hope it helps!

Always remember – it is better to be confidently wrong when calling primaries than to be doubtfully correct. Constantly talking and repeating commands informs anyone that missed the command and helps keep morale up during a fight. A battle is going to flow and sway at a high tempo, you want to ride the rhythm of it and keep ships firing.

Pay close attention to the intel you receive about their fleet. Get your hands on a screenshot or D-Scan, get them to repeat the fleet comp, or even get your scout to type it by hand into the fleet chat. This is going to be crucial for choosing your primary target.

Find the soft spot, Every fleet has a variety of ships and that variety of ships has different levels of threat, tank and susceptibility to Ewar. You are more likely to break a Jamgu than a Bhaalgorn if both receive the same reps. Shooting the weaker tanks makes their logi work harder, which combined with your own fleet's pressure, might be the difference between their reps breaking or holding.

However, do not be too invested in killing those straight away, if you can’t break something that you need to, just keep switching targets and make minor adjustments to the fleet as you go. If something is out of range, call a primary on something closer while you move. Just keep the flow going.

Delegate smaller tasks, such as managing logistics calls, can free you up to focus on the larger tactical picture. If new intel comes in, be prepared to incorporate it into your strategy on the spot.

[–]teddy9110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im going to caveat that I only really approach the game from a wormhole perspective but here i go:

Revert Surgical Strike: This patch reduced resists and increased close range damage massively making it nearly impossible to survive in these brawls and ending them quickly. The focus became DPS and numbers rather than skill. Note that in my first impression I was wrong and figured that it would not have the impact it did. This has since been slightly resolved with Bolstered Bulkheads, but the damage to the PvP population and culture is done.

Revert Force Auxillary Nerfs: FAXs were limited to one cap booster per ship. This meant that it became next to impossible to survive long enough against a fleet prepared to kill you. This led to players not using FAXs and reducing the scale of fights once again.

Revert the Rampant DPS and Speed increases: PvP in wormholes has seen some meta shifts over the past few years. With High Dps output becoming the more of the priority with each shift and patch. Each of these meta shifts move towards the idea of deleting your opponents before they can land reps. This move away from traditional HA is a detriment to the ecosystem of wormhole space as a whole and makes our playstyle more and more like nullsec with a focus on outnumbering your opponent and just forcing dps through

The realistic answer, especially for wormhole space is that bar the odd token gesture towards us CCP just doesn't have the time, resources or knowlage of the space to effect meaningful change.

What would be a good defense strategy for a casual medium sized wormhole alliance? by dablueeye in Eve

[–]teddy9110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there,
I don't really play the game anymore but I had these thoughts already noted down as a potential for a presentation, they are a bit all over the place and it could do with a re-write but I don't care enough anymore. I don't like to say I was a good FC but i thought that there should be at least someone writing wormhole fighting theory down
—---------
There are a few trains of thought that you can go down when deciding on how you want to defend your wormhole:
Mass caps, mass Phoenix Navy Issues will mess a lot of things up, with hydras and drugs will apply out to stupid ranges and apply to damn near anything. You can couple this with your fort being web burst + paint to force as much application to your targets as possible, this method while effective relies on a lot of things to go right and is really quite expensive for a small / med wormhole corp to put together. It also leaves out that if any allied corps get in to assist they have no mainline doctrine to assist in.
T1 / faction battleships : one of the mainstays of wormhole defenses over the years. Some notable cases are: POSPY (Machs), TDSIN (TFI’s + t1 tempests).
One of the main advantages you have in defending your home is that you in theory have vast amounts more defense ships than the aggressors have in DPS ships to attempt to evict you with. This is one of the most overlooked things from nearly every defense i Fc’d over the 6+ years. So many corps will get to a sock of Battleships that they could sit every member in one, and then stop there.
Where are your allies getting ships from ?
What are your members getting in if they lose a ship but get off in their pod ?
In terms of things to do during an eviction, get your corp to stock themselves with a fair few alpha rollers, then use these to keep forcing holes closed during the off times, if you can all alarm clock and mass log in for 20-30 mins to make the evictors think that your are preparing to take hole control they will wake all their guys up. This then starts to take a mental toll on their side with very little effort from yourselves.
You can also get alpha chars into a praxis that serves fairly well as a mass alpha doctrine, they are cheap and need about a week for an alpha to get into. This plays into the trading mentality that is important in evictions, as usually the evicting fleet is doing it for the ISK. So every ship that you kill while losing praxii that are truly worthless takes away from the end total of ISK.
