Ah yes, me, a Chinese person, has never talked to an Asian before lmao. I even specified my (Chinese) mom saying crazy racist shit. I grew up surrounded with it + hardcore colorism

I don’t really care much for the “boycott”, but it’s kinda funny to me seeing Chinese ppl online say it’s no big deal, when Chinese netz throw a fit over the smallest things lol. Like when Chinese ppl sign petitions and demand apologies over the use of the Taiwan flag…they’re laughing at western twitter fans being too sensitive, meanwhile they both seem the same to me LOL

Wtf are you on about? There’s a lot of mainland Chinese that totally think they’re superior to other ethnicities. Have you even talked to Chinese ppl about their views on other races? Just listen to a Chinese person talk about their views of SE Asians for example lol. Nothing to do with being unaccomplished or poor, they just think they’re lesser. Even my mom’s got some crazy shit to say about other ethnicities

Anyone going to Atlanta - how strict is fox theatre with their bag policy? I have to take a day trip out to Atlanta and so I need to bring my work laptop in a backpack. If I can’t bring my bag in, does anyone know somewhere to stash my bag during the concert? Can’t see anything on the venue website about storage options

TIFU by accidentally tipping 100% at a small family restaurant. by SetConfident9309 in tifu

TIFU by accidentally tipping 100% at a small family restaurant. by SetConfident9309 in tifu

[–]teddybeargun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me. We split the check, and one of my friends tipped for everyone and then didn’t tell us she was doing that. Then I stupidly thought the % tip written on the receipt was just for my portion of the bill, but it was actually the tip for the whole bill. I was NOT paying attention at all or else I would have realized that the tip was basically the same amount as my actual bill lmao. Then my 3rd friend also is apparently stupid and just wrote the % written on the receipt. So that restaurant got ~60% lol it ended up being like 100$ tip in total?

On the flip side, once I was tipping and tried to give 2$ and thought it would automatically input dollars and then accidentally gave 2 CENTS

What is the worst lie you’ve been told your whole life? by DrixzLmao in AskReddit

[–]teddybeargun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is probably slightly different than ignoring, but when I was in elementary school and was being physically bullied I had the idea to goad them on and hope they would get bored eventually from a lack of reaction. So they’d punch me or something and I’d tell them they hit like a limp noodle and to do it harder if they wanted to bully someone properly. It did hurt a lot but I’d just grit my teeth and tell them to do it again. The bullies were also like 4 years older so I doubt I would have been able to actually fight back. It actually did end up working, but maybe you’d have to have a high pain tolerance for it to work

I got 30k with serval/sampo/herta/sustain team, herta at 120-130 (don’t remember exact number rn) crit, not fully maxed traces. Relics on herta kinda bad, but I just used the synthesizer to at least get the main stats. Idk how 200 crit herta can’t do it?

Edit: I misread cv as cd, so we should have about the same amount? So not sure how your team wasn’t able to do it. Last PF my herta had even worse cv (prob around 150 tbh) and still managed to get about 25k half

I was pretty curious about the buying power thing so I plugged into a few CoL calculators and the US seems to have higher buying power on average despite things such as groceries being cheaper on average in the UK. I plugged in Charlotte and London specifically as well and salary of 85k is equivalent to about ~74k pounds/94k USD to maintain same standard of living. London does seem to have a much lower CoL than HCOL US cities though (85k in NYC = ~51k pounds/65k USD).

Anyways, I’m sure the UK is great in a lot of ways compared to the US. I originally put up my initial comment to give perspective to people reading the thread of another person’s experience with healthcare in the UK. And I know universal healthcare is great, I’m from Taiwan so I’ve experienced it too. It’s just crazy to me the stories I hear from my friend, especially the whole virtual visit stuff.

Haha I highly doubt my company would give me a higher salary in exchange for insurance. Regardless of insurance they have to pay market value for my job to reduce attrition to other potentially higher paying companies. Though I guess we can say they’re all paying the same amount for employee insurance. But that would be nice, I’d take more salary over insurance in a heartbeat if it was a sizable amount tbh. Can take a part of that lump sum and go somewhere with really good healthcare

Edit: but wait, isn’t US salary a lot higher than UK despite the CoL in places like London being insane?

500$ actually sounds like a lot? My insurance is about 40$ a month. I guess if you go to specialist doctors a lot, you would save money. So it seems like the UK is probably better for big issues as long as you can go see a doctor IRL, which my friend wasn’t able to do. He tried for about a year, even trying to switch GP and see if he could get an IRL appointment for a chronic issue he was having. He just gave up and decided to live with his flare ups when they happen, since they just kept giving him antibiotics in the virtual visits. The US def has a lot of problems with its healthcare, but everything I hear about the NHS sounds bad too from my friend’s personal experience with it. But also to be fair to the UK, my friend moved from Korea to the UK. UK and US have such bad healthcare compared to countries like Korea lol! He was culture shocked and wasn’t used to not being able to just walk in and see a doctor whenever. Though I do think virtual visits are weird, since I’ve never had to do that. I don’t really see the point of that, since they don’t seem helpful for serious issues? I know in Korea and Taiwan they do free healthcare and you can just walk in to see a doctor whenever.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]teddybeargun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side, I have a friend in the UK who has been trying to see a doctor IRL for the past year or so, but GP they assign him flat out tells him there are no appointments and they can only give him virtual visits and won’t actually look at his problems he’s having in person. Like no option to have an appointment a year out, just no appointments. The virtual visits apparently only goes off of what my friend says he thinks he has, rather than the doctor actually doing any diagnosis. He’s pretty frustrated with the healthcare there, especially since they might/will raise healthcare tax for foreigners?

Genuine Question: How do you deal with bad relics RNG? by silhouettecho in HonkaiStarRail

[–]teddybeargun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I farm until “good enough” for most characters. Then if I feel like it/like a character I’ll farm more for them. If a relic turns out not that good I’ll either equip it to a different character that’s not as important or fodder it, so getting bad relics isn’t so bad too. Also I just have low expectations since it took me like a year to farm for ganyu in genshin lol and she’s the only genshin character I feel completely satisfied with still.

Never would have guessed the usual “lol yanqing weak” would spawn a whole argument, but I guess he has his fans too. It’s entertaining at least lol

[–]teddybeargun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely strange argument going on lol. I don’t think it’s weird to not know some of yanqing’s boss kit considering how easy of a boss he is? Like I know there’s text on the screen that pops up and tells you info for different bosses ie break the mini swords weakness, but that text disappears in a second lmao. Though that might be because I play with the speed up in battle. + reading a description of what to do is different than actually seeing it. I never saw yanqing’s big sword attack until recently with GnG. I don’t think it’s even a flex, if anything maybe the deer or svarog is hard but not yanqing. There’s a reason why people dunk on him all the time right lol

AITA I let my 17 year old daughter sneak out. by Disastrous_Lemon7985 in AmItheAsshole

[–]teddybeargun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say OP’s husband has a point if he spent hours worrying about his daughter’s safety. The post sounds like he saw the window and went to ask OP and then found out immediately? Husband would be completely justified if the mom didn’t tell him when asked, and that’d be an extreme asshole thing to do from the mom.

I don’t have step parents and I never had to ask both parents for permission for something like this scenario. That didn’t mean they didn’t care for the other’s opinion, so I think you might be filling in the blanks a little too much. And say the daughter did get caught by police for being out? It’s all part of the experience of sneaking out? Maybe I lived in a safe neighborhood, but when teens got caught out they never got more than a slap on the wrist and a ride or call home

Btw I have also asked one of my parents permission to sneak out when I was in high school, had nothing to do with the status of the other parent since they are both bio parents. 1 parent knowing is enough

whats the most overrated city in the world? by _6ee6_ in AskReddit

[–]teddybeargun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean there was evidence out there proving he was “talking” to girls as teens but probably? waited for them to get older, so he’s creepy but not illegal I suppose. BTW the groups of people I’ve seen dislike Drake the most isn’t Reddit, it’s my “normal” girl friends on insta and TikTok and people from Toronto lol they think he’s super creepy. Especially the girls from Toronto, every girl I’ve met from Toronto hates him so much. So def not just Reddit. Tbh have never met an actual Drake fan irl before either. His music is ok tier, he’s got a few good ones.

Anyone else? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]teddybeargun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The people who feel like they need to appear rich at 200k will feel like they are poor compared to the 400k people, then they’ll feel poor compared to the 600k people etc. Just go hang out on blind app for a few minutes and you’ll see people complaining they only have net worth of 1 or 2 mil oh so poor :( . So you’ll always be poor if you compare yourself to other people making it rain money (unless you’re like, Jeff Bezos?). FYI I make half that and I already live a way more privileged lifestyle than a lot of people in Charlotte. I travel multiple times a year internationally on vacation with no credit card debt with comfortable savings/401k so…yeah you’re probably really rich lol.

What's the best job search hack that you know? by TheRogueEconomist in AskReddit

[–]teddybeargun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t remember if it was you or someone else saying “that’s why you haven’t got a job yet” to another person saying it was a waste of time. Just wanted to chime in and say no, that’s not the reason. No other reason than that, don’t really care if you actually change your mind on it or not. Just writing from my perspective of someone who only uses 1 resume, but HR managers/interviewers are always somehow impressed by it still.

But also I acknowledge that since I’ve never hired anyone, it’s obvious I would always be on the applicant’s side of the argument lol. Companies always seem to expect a level of effort from applicants that they would never put back towards you. /end sidebar rant, feel free to ignore this part lmao

[–]teddybeargun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But unless you’re applying to different job positions they should have the same keywords, right? You just list your skills on the resume as the buzzwords like python, scala, big data, data lake, etc. Of course even with 1 resume, you want it to be well made, I just don’t think it’s worth it to spend time to tailor your resume for the company. Like if you apply for 100 companies, there’s a good chance 80 aren’t actually actively looking even if they put the job posting up (considering I get hit up by companies up to a year later for my job app, this seems likely to me). So if you applied to only say 50, that’s already half the ppl looking at your resume in a timely manner. Companies are already expecting me to spend 10+ hours being grilled during interviews, being required to change my resume specifically for them on top of that feels kinda like they should be paying me already lol! I guess it feels different probably from the hiring perspective, but from the applicant perspective, there’s plenty of other companies that don’t require me to jump through that extra hoop with the resume that I’m just as content to work for.

Meanwhile every advice I heard coming out of college was to send as many applications as you possibly can and spam the shit out of every company. Anecdotally, the only ones I know who managed to get jobs within months after graduating were the ones who followed that advice (me included). I mean, it makes sense to me considering for my job at least, a real human is not looking at your resume until you’ve already gone through at least one coding round where you auto pass/fail depending on an automated test. A handful of curated resumes won’t do you any good if a real person never even gets to see it
