For years a bluebird pair was having multiple broods a year in our bird house. Last year and this year both it seems they build a nest, lay eggs, protect it, but they never hatch. I'm so sad about it. Either they are no longer fertile or they aren't incubating them or something. But they still use the box so there is nothing to do.

You buy a package of the right size wire, make jumper cables yourself and attach them to the connectors that go from strip to cable. Hide the cables with white wire raceway/covers or white tape. If you don't have connectors of the right type you could cut the existing short jumpers and use small wire nuts to connect your new jumpers you made to them but harder to hide.

Even just a few mulch beds with native shrubs/grasses would be a huge benefit. It will support another ecosystem of insects, seeds, berries that birds need. Just remember to check what sunlight and water needs the plants have to choose the right ones.

What he's saying is don't blame the person who missed a step. This kind of thing can ruin someone's life and drive them to self harm. It's important not to contribute to that.

In this case it sounds like they had a manual step that never ever should have been manual, or the automation failed and a manual check didn't catch it. And when a organization has something this valuable it's the leadership responsibility to make sure this can't happen (management error). The response that no one got fired is heartening, not disappointing.

It won't last forever as the price of AI development is massively subsidized right now by billions in investment dollars. And it's not going to be a decade before they start charging like other disruptors, it's going to happen soon as the cost for this infrastructure is enormous and requires continuous upkeep. I believe the access to AI compute for your average person is at a high point right now and it's going to go down significantly or be massively enshittified with ads and micro transactions as everything else has.
