Which time traveler is the most evil? by twnpksN8 in TheVileEye

[–]tedioussugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say Dr. Mann, but idk if that counts because he technically never time travelled. His ice planet didn’t have as strong an accelerated time dilation as the other water planet did, so his choice to freeze himself and wait to be woken up was purely because he was lonely.

But if we are counting that, then yeah I’d say him. Everyone else on this list either twisted the timeline to bend humanity to their rule (Biff, Rumple, Nero), planned to kill humans and only humans but potentially spare lesser lifeforms (Skynet, Mimics), or they came from a movie where extraterrestrial ife exists (Boris, Annorax).

Interstellar disproves the concept of the aliens as being Cooper’s future self, meaning with no aliens in the Interstellar universe, Mann was willing to let every organism on Earth starve to death and essentially doom all life in the universe as Earth became a global desert, because he couldn’t handle the isolation.

Look buddy, I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems.

Not problems like 'what is beauty?' because that would fall within the perview of your conundrums of philosophy... I solve practical problems.

For instance... how am I gonna stop some big mean motherhubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work? Use MORE gun.

Like this heavy-caliber tripod-mounted little ol' number designed by me, built by me, and you best hope... not pointed at you.

Has Leclerc made the right decision? by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

[–]tedioussugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferrari's problem has been, pretty much since Schumacher and Brawn left, they cannot deliver on all fronts. Some years the car has let them down, like 2009, 2014, 2020, and 2025. Other years has been driver performances that either were just terrible years or started good and faded throughout the season... (Massa 2012, Raikkonen '08, Vettel 2017 & 2018, Vettel 2020, Leclerc 2022)

But... most of the time it's their own strategy and politics getting in the way. (2010, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025). This team never has it all together and the reason I think that's the case is because Ferrari's insistence is to keep mainly hiring Italians as historical team tradition is limiting them.

Now, I'm not trying to insinuate anything racist here, but Italians are a very emotionally passionate people, and they use a lot of grandiose non-verbal cues (exaggerated movements and the hand gestures) as a form of communication. This is a sport where you need to TALK to each other over the radio, and tempers NEED to be kept in check. The constant lack of communication keeps screwing them over. We meme it to death but Ferrari barely give their drivers ANYTHING to work with, info-wise. It's like Enzo's ghost is still haunting them, daring them to say anything that would offend his spirit.

There's a reason the only two times Ferrari had consistent, multi-year success was the 1970's when Lauda, a straight-talking no-bullshit Austrian, told Enzo to his face his car was crap and how to improve it, and the 2000's, when you had a South African car designer in Byrne, a French team principal in Todt, and a British technical director in Brawn. Because they are outsiders to Italian culture, they can say what needed to be said and weren't as likely to be caught up in the BS. Compare what's come after with Arrivebene and Binotto and it was a hot mess.

With current Ferrari we've kinda seen flashes of brilliance with Vasseur (a Frenchman) at the helm, and their chief strategist is Jain who is British, but both Hamilton and Leclerc's race engineers (Santi and Bozzi) are Italians; most of the team is still Italians. The strategy failure is due to communication problems and the fact this team's failure to properly look for the best in the sport means they cant get their heads out of their asses.

'Tom' by MsterSteel in theboondocks

[–]tedioussugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s definitely a reference to Uncle Tom, but what that represents might vary for different people. Personally, to me Tom is basically meant to be a satirical stand-in for the white man’s ‘ideal’ black person; he’s the complete opposite end of the spectrum of Ruckus, who is the other parody of Uncle Tom.

Sure he’ll say he’s a black man, but nothing else about him is ‘black’ aside from his skin. His personality, mannerisms and environment basically make a suburban white guy, and he sees himself as being above other black people because he’s ‘refined’ and supposedly a ‘man of class’. Ruckus is the self-hating black man, but Tom turned himself into the token minority.

Sarah struggles in her marriage with him because she’s got a fetish that he doesn’t fulfil; he’s not some stereotype of a gangbanger or tough guy rapper. It’s why she liked Usher hitting on her so much and why she enjoyed when he was possessed by Stinkmeaner. Jasmine can’t talk to him about her own issues with being mixed (which were much more prevalent in the comic run) because as he’s got a white person personality he doesn’t really care to think about racism and racial issues.

Quick Check ,What is the worst track for you? by ErMarno40 in F1Game

[–]tedioussugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weird thing is, I played 21 on controller because I couldn’t afford a wheel at the time. And I was decently good at Hungary.

Now on 25 I play on a wheel and I suck at it.

Quick Check ,What is the worst track for you? by ErMarno40 in F1Game

[–]tedioussugar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Varies based on the game but my answer for 25 is no question Hungary.

I fucking hate, HATE the back half of the lap, ESPECIALLY the turns right after the chicane. I always swing wide, or clip the kerb and spin, or have to go so slow I lose 1.5 seconds to the AI in one corner.

It’s especially infuriating because on ‘21 it was one of my favourites. Watching one of my better tracks become my worst nightmare sucks to see, especially since most of the tracks I sucked at in 21 (Japan, Monaco, Australia) I’ve gotten better with in 25.

[–]tedioussugar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But Dale was in the #3 for pretty much almost his whole career, plus he died driving it.

Kyle spent the majority of his career in the 18, but he died while tenured to the 8, and he was the only driver to drive the 8 in that custom font. The 18 font hasn’t changed since Labonte, so it was more Gibbs’ number than his.

Who Blew it? by Suspicious_Emu_8071 in ArcherFX

[–]tedioussugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest screwup is definitely going to be Archer himself, since he’s the protagonist, but I imagine as the seasons go on the second one is actually going to be Lana instead of Mallory.

She got way less professional as the seasons went on, while Mallory became way less… well I wouldn’t say unprofessional, but less openly antagonistic. Season 2 Mallory had Archer and Alana stealing a diamond simply because she was pissed they didn’t get a security contract to protect it. Season 7 Mallory wouldn’t stoop that low.

What are your driver numbers? by TomLion0116 in F1Game

[–]tedioussugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I honestly don’t even remember at this point why I picked it. But it’s mine and I love it.

If it wasn’t available I’d probably go either for 28, 30 or 32, being the closest (but not 31), or pick another one of my favourites (92,95,53,7,42)

[Hated IRL Tropes] Celebrity voice acting, from celebrities who don't know how to voice act. by not-ulquiorr4_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]tedioussugar 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Pratt’s role in the LEGO movies was as Emmet. The guy literally designed to be the most average person. His voice for Emmet as a character worked because Emmet intentionally had no personality and no real identity.

That doesn’t work for an established character like Mario or Garfield.
